농촌 그림책에 대한 도시와 농촌 아동의 반응 비교

The Study of Comparison in Urban and Rural Children's Responses to Rural Picture books

본 연구는 살아 온 환경과 경험, 배경 지식이 다른 도시 아동과 농촌 아동이 농촌 그림책을 보고 어떻게 반응하는지 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 농촌 그림책을 2권 선정하여 도시와 농촌 아동 간 농촌 그림책에 대한 반응에 차이가 있는지 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 초등학교 3학년의 도시 아동 40명과 농촌 아동 42명을 선정하여 농촌 그림책을 보고 농촌 그림책에 대해 1:1 면접을 진행하여 농촌 그림책의 공간적 배경에 대한 인식, 농촌 그림책의 시간적 배경에 대한 인식, 농촌 그림책과 자신이 사는 곳과의 비교, 현재 농촌과 농촌 그림책을 비교했을 때 어떠한 평가를 내리는지 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 아동이 살고 있는 지역에 따라 그림책에 대한 반응이 달라지며, 현재 농촌 그림책이 도시와 농촌 아동이 모두 공감하는 농촌으로 그려지고 있지 않다는 것을 보여준다. 농촌 그림책이 농촌에 가보거나 살아본 경험이 없는 도시 아동들이 농촌을 경험하고 농촌에 대한 이미지를 확립하는데 도움을 준다는 점을 고려할 때 본 연구의 결과는 앞으로 농촌 그림책의 제작에 시사점을 줄 것이다.

This study examines how children who live in different environment respond to rural picture books. For this study, two rural picture books were selected and total 82 3rd grade elementary school children responded to the questionnaire prepared by the researcher. Among them, 42 lived in rural area and 40 in urban area. Study questions and their subcategories were as follows: 1. What are response of urban and rural children to rural picture books about spatial understanding? 2. What are the response of urban and rural children to rural picture books about time? 3. How do urban and rural children respond to rural picture books of rural picture books' setting? The results of this study were as follows: First, both urban and rural children recognized the spatial setting of the picture books as 'rural area'. With regard to the temporal setting, 60% of urban children thought of it as 'past' and 40% of urban children thought 'present'. However, there were more children who thought the temporal setting as 'past' among rural students. Second, urban children thought that the settings of rural picture books were similar to those of actual contemporary rural area, and they showed no significant difference in response between two picture books. However rural children thought there are many differences between rural picture books and actual rural area, and they showed diverse responses to each picture book.
