영국 그림책의 유머분석

Analysis of Humor in British Picture Books

본 논문의 목적은 현대 영국 그림책에 구사된 유머의 분석 틀을 세우는 것이다. 그림책은 독특한 예술의 한 장르로 글과 그림으로 형성된다. 따라서 이의 분석을 글 텍스트, 그림 텍스트 그리고 글과 그림의 관계, 세 분야로 나누었다. 글 텍스트에서 유머는 동음반복, 부적절한 용어, 반전과 패러디, 그림 텍스트에서 유머는 의인화, 대체와 과장, 마지막으로 글과 그림의 관계에서 유머는 디자인 측면에서의 구성과 의미부여 차원에서의 불일치로 찾을 수 있었다. 유머분석과 더불어 그림책 작가와 그 지망생, 그리고 유아와 함께 그림책의 즐거움을 나눌 교사나 학부모에게 현대 그림책의 유머 읽기의 시사점을 적고 있다.

This study aims to build a framework to analyze humor in British Picture Books. Picture books are a unique form of art which is comprised of written text and illustration. Analysis of picture books are divided into three areas: written text, illustration and the relations between written text and illustration. Humor factors are alliteration, malapropism, reversal and parody in written text, animation, displacement and exaggeration in illustration. Furthermore, design of letters and pictures, and irony between the written texts and the pictures are humor factors in relations between written text and illustration. In conclusion, this framework can be applied to children's picture books in general.
