한국 사실주의 그림책에 표현된 아동의 생활문화

Exploration Children's Living Culture in the Korean Realistic Picturebook

문학 작품은 그 나라의 문화를 접하고 이해하게 해주는 중요한 매체이다. 특히 사실주의 문학작품은 그 시대에 일어났거나 일어날 수 있는 이야기를 담고 있다. 따라서 아동들은 사실주의 그림책의 글과 그림을 통해서 환경적인 이미지, 언어, 문화 등을 접하게 됨으로써 자신이 속해 있는 사회의 생활문화에 대한 배경지식을 넓힐 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 지난 10여 년간 한국에서 출간된 한국 작가들에 의해 쓰인 사실주의 그림책을 분석해 봄으로써, 현대 아동들의 생활 문화의 특징이 어떻게 표현되고 있는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 첫째, 음식이 간편화되고 주거 공간이 개별화 되고 있으며, 이러한 기본생활문화의 특징은 다른 생활 방식에도 영향을 주고 있는 것이다. 둘째, 현대사회에서 아이들의 사회생활문화인 놀이의 특징은 놀이 공간, 놀잇감, 놀이 대상이 매우 제한되어 있다는 것이다. 아이들은 실외에서 친구들과 놀기 보다는 주로 실내에서, 장난감을 가지고 노는 모습으로 보여진다. 셋째, 현대 사회에서 사람간의 유대와 같은 정신생활문화의 부분은 자연과 이웃 그리고 가족 간의 소통과 단절의 모습을 통해 볼 수 있었다. 현대의 아이들은 자연과 이웃, 가족관의 관계에서 소통뿐 아니라 단절을 경험하고 있었다. 본 연구는 한국의 사실주의 그림책에서 아동의 생활 문화가 어떻게 반영되었는지를 살펴봄으로써 현대의 문화의 특징 즉, 사회에서 아이들이 어떠한 문화를 경험하며 생활하는지를 인식할 수 있도록 해주었다는 데에 의미가 있다.

Literary works are an important medium letting readers encounter and understand the society and culture of the country. Especially, literary works of realism include stories which occurred or could have occurred in the period. Therefore, children can encounter environmental image, language, culture, etc. through the writings and pictures of realism picture books and widen background knowledge for life and culture of the society. Therefore, this research was intended to examine how living culture is expressed by analyzing realism picture books written by Korean writers over a period of about 10 years. It was discovered through the results of this research. First, that characteristics of basic living culture is simplified food and personalized living space, and it affects a different way of life. Second, play space, toys and playing objects for children were very limited. Children play alone or with toys without playmate in a room, while children are merrily playing with playmate outdoors. Third, moral culture in modern society is showed by communication or severance with nature, neighbors and family. Children experience severance of relations as well as communications with nature, neighbors and famil in many ways. This research is significant as it let readers recognize characteristics of modern living culture by examining children's living culture was reflected in korean picture books.
