유아들이 선호하는 그림책의 특성

Children’s Preferences in Picture Books

본 연구의 목적은 유아들의 시각에서 유아들이 좋아하는 그림책의 특성은 무엇이며 선호 이유는 무엇인지를 알아보고 이러한 특징이 유아의 성별에 따라 차이가 있는지를 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구의 대상은 만3-5세 유아 121명이었다. 연구 결과 첫째, 유아들이 가장 선호하는 그림책의 장르는 남녀 유아 모두 환상 그림책이었고 다음으로 남아는 정보그림책을, 여아는 사실 그림책을 선호하였다. 둘째, 유아들이 가장 선호하는 주제는 지식․개념, 정의, 성숙, 인간사랑 이었다. 남아는 지식․개념, 성숙을, 여아는 정의, 인간사랑의 주제를 좋아하였다. 셋째, 유아들이 가장 선호하는 그림책의 주인공은 동물과 어린이였으며 남아는 주인공이 없는 정보그림책을 특히 좋아하였다. 넷째, 유아들은 그림책을 볼 때 그림과 내용을 모두 보았으며 등장인물이 좋아하는 캐릭터인 그림책과 재미있는 행동이나 말이 나오는 그림책을 좋아하였다.

The purpose of this study is to suggest genres, themes, characters and the reasons of children's preferences in picture books. The subjects were 121 children. The results of this study are as follows: First, genres of children's preferences in picture books were fantasy and realistic picture books. Boys preferred informational books, but girls liked more realistic books. Second, themes of picture books that children prefer were knowledge or concept, growing and love for humans. Particularly girls liked topics of justice and love for humans. Third, the majority of children preferred characters of animals and children. But boys liked the informational books with no characters. Fourth, the reasons of children's preferences in picture books were characters and humorous words.
