그림책에 나타난 아동 성폭력

Child Sexual Abuse Represented in Children's Picture Books

본 연구는 그림책에 아동 성폭력 관련 내용이 어떻게 표현되고 있는지 알기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 이를 위해 국내에 출간된 아동 성폭력을 주제로 한 16권의 그림책을 선정하여 분석하였다. 분석 범주는 아동 성폭력을 주제로 한 그림책의 출판현황 및 성폭력 지식 전달을 위한 추가 정보, 구성요소, 내 몸을 보여줘야 할 상황 구별, 좋은 느낌과 나쁜 느낌 구별, 부적절한 성적행동, 성태도로 분류하였다. 분석 결과 성폭력 관련 그림책들은 직접적인 지식정보책의 비중이 높았으며, 국외 그림책의 빈도가 높았다. 그림책에 나타난 아동 성폭력 피해자의 연령 및 성별, 가해자 성별, 성폭력이 일어난 장소 등은 실제 성폭력 실태를 잘 반영하고 있었다. 분석된 그림책 중 부적절한 성적행동에 대해 나타난 책은 총 15권이었으나 그 외에 다른 성폭력의 요소를 다양하게 포괄하거나 해당 내용을 심도 있게 다루고 있는 책은 많지 않았다. 성폭력 발생 시 구체적 문제해결이나 타인의 몸을 소중히 생각하고 보호하는 내용은 거의 다루어지지 않고 있어 이에 대한 내용을 함께 다루는 책들이 향후 계속 출간될 필요가 있겠다. 본 연구는 그림책이 성폭력 예방교육의 효과적인 교수매체가 될 수 있으며 성폭력 예방을 위한 교육을 실시할 때 다루어야 할 교육 요소 및 그림책 선정을 위한 평가준거를 마련하였다는데 의의가 있다.

This study aims to determine what kinds of patterns of juvenile sexual abuse appear in picture books. For this, sixteen picture books are sampled and analyzed among those published domestically. The contents researched are classified as follows: 1. The publishing status of picture books of juvenile sexual abuse 2. The contents of the picture books 3. The discretion on whether or not to show one’s body, and good or bad feelings 4. Improper sexual behavior 5. The respect to the other party and sexual attitudes The study indicates a large portion of the picture books are likely to transmit knowledge directly only and most of these are from abroad. Further, it reflects juvenile sexual abuse crime practically in terms of age and gender of the victims and offenders, as well as where it happens. Fifteen of the books discuss improper sexual behavior. A few, however, are likely to contain the comprehensive and profound factors of sexual abuse. Therefore, it seems to be necessary to discuss procedures on how to deal with sexual abuse and protecting the innocent. This study is meant to prove that picture books can be an educational channel for a campaign to prevent sexual abuse as well as the criteria to be used to select books.
