한설야의『금강선녀』 연구 - <나무꾼과 선녀> 설화 변용을 중심으로 -

A Study on Han Seol-ya's "Geumgang nymph" -A study on the revision of "Woodcutter and Nymph"-

그동안 한설야 연구는 자료 부족으로 인하여 그의 북한에서의 아동문학 활동이 제대로 조명되지 못한 탓에 일반문학 분야에 집중되어 이루어져 온 경향이 있다. 하지만 그는 해방 이후 북한에서 아동문학에 대한 자신의 논의를 개진하는 한편, 작품을 창작하기도 했다. 그 중『금강선녀』는 여타의 그의 작품들과는 달리 비록 주체사상의 영향 안에 있다 하더라도 김일성 우상화에서는 비껴나 있는 작품으로 주목을 요한다. 넓게 보아 『금강선녀』는 북한 사회주의 건설 과업에 대한 알레고리로 읽을 여지가 충분하지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 그것이 1:1의 협소한 대응을 넘어 나아간 지점에 있는 작품이다. 금강선녀가 발굴과 더불어 ‘동아시아 대표동화’로 선정될 수 있었던 것은 작품이 가진 풍부한 육체성 덕분인 것이다. 따라서 본고는『금강선녀』와 <나무꾼과 선녀> 설화의 비교를 통해 한설야의 세계관과 더불어 그 텍스트의 풍성함이 어디로부터 비롯되는지 고찰하고자 하였다.

There has been almost no research done on the children's literature written by Han Seol-ya. However, in North Korea, he has given his opinion of North Korean children's literature and written texts such as "Adonghyukmyongdan", "Mangyeongdae", "Geumgang nymph", "Bausut", etc., Among these books, "Adonghyukmyongdan"(Children's Revolution Unit), "Mangyeongdae", and "Bausut" (Mushroom) were each an idolization of Kim Il-seong. On the other hand rather than emphasize Juche idea, “Geumgang Nymph" in which the plot is not placed in space and time, that it is one of characteristics of fairy tales. Moreover, a fantasy theme such as that found in "Geumgang Nymph" is rarely seen elsewhere in our children's literature. Though "Geumgang Nymph" finds its roots in the story of the "Woodcutter and Nymph", many elements were changed. "Geumgang Nymph" emphasizes the conflictbetween heaven and earth utlitizing the utopia on earth construct. Additionally, "Geumgang Nymph" uses a form that consistently describes its characters in specific details-a trait not found in "Woodcutter and Nymph". Finally, the character of the Black Thief, the legend and the song are elements added to "Geumgang Nymph" that do not exist in "Woodcutter and Nymph". Given the near absence of fantasy in children's literature, the significance of "Geumgang Nymph" cannot be overstated.
