2009 개정 초등교육과정 1,2학년 국어 교과서 수록 그림책에 나타난 성역할 분석

Analysis of Gender Roles in Picture Books on the [Korean] and [Korean Activity] Textbook of the National Elementary Curriculum Revised in 2009

본 연구는 2012년 교육과학기술부가 편찬하여 2013년부터 사용된 2009 개정 초등교육과정 1,2학년국어 교과서와 국어활동 교과서 16종에 수록된 그림책 59권을 분석하여, 등장인물의 성별 출현도, 남성·여성 등장인물의 직업과 그 종류, 성별 차이가 등장인물의 활동 내용에 영향을 미치는지를 조사하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 그 결과 성별 출현 분포는 중성, 남성, 여성의 순으로 나타났고, 성별 직업분포는 남성이 여성보다 직업을 가지고 있는 비율이 더 높게 나타났다. 직업의 종류 또한 남성의 직업종류가 훨씬 다양하게 나타났으며 성별에 따른 활동 내용도 남성과 여성이 차이를 보였다. 또한 직업활동을 하는 인물은 남성으로, 가사노동을 하거나 직업이 없는 인물은 여성으로 표현되어, 성역할 고정관념을 보여주는 것으로 판단되었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 초등학생들의 균형 잡힌 성역할 학습을 위해서 초등 교과서에 수록되는 그림책 제재에 대한 다각도의 분석이 필요함을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze gender-appearance ratio, kinds of job in male and female characters and gender roles through picture books in [Korean] and [Korean activity] textbook of the national elementary curriculum revised in 2009. For this purpose, fifty-nine picture books are analyzed. This analysis shows that firstly, gender-appearance ratio appears in order of intersex, male, female. Secondly, distribution of gender occupation shows higher occupied ratio of male than female. Also the kinds of jobs for males have more variety than for females. Lastly according to gender, there are differences of activity content. It shows that picture books describe males as having jobs, and females as working at home. These results are assumed to carry stereotypes to children in gender roles.
