구성주의 교사교육 관점의 '숲유치원 교육' 교과목을 수강한 예비유아교사들의 경험의 의미

Understanding of Preservice Early Childhood Teachers' Experience in the Process of Taking a Course of Forest Kindergarten Education for Young Children based on a Constructivism

본 연구는 교직 준비기인 예비유아교사 양성과정의 중요성을 인식하고, 한 학기 동안 예비유아교사들에게 구성주의 교사교육 관점의 ‘숲유치원 교육’ 교과목을 수업하여 이들이 경험한 것의 의미를 풀어내는 것에 목적이 있었다. 이를 위해 28명의 예비유아교사를 대상으로 심층면접, 반성적 저널, 소집단 토의, 연구자 저널, 그룹별 포트폴리오를 분석 자료로 삼고 질적 분석을 하였다. 연구결과, 첫째 예비유아교사들은 ‘숲유치원 교육’ 수업을 통해 숲에 관심과 흥미를 갖고 한 발짝 다가가는 모습을 보였으며, 숲유치원 활동들을 실제로 체험하며, 숲 속에서 활동하는 것이 즐거운 행위임을 인식해가고 있었다. 둘째, 예비유아교사들은 본 수업을 통해 숲유치원의 교육적 가치와 필요성에 대해 인식하게 되었고, 유아교육이 나아가야 할 방향성에 관해서도 생각하는 등 ‘보다 넓어진 안목’으로 나아가고 있었다. 셋째, 자연생태계로부터 인간이 배울 수 있는 삶의 지혜가 많이 녹아 있음을 인식해가고 있었으며, 그동안 무심코 지나쳐온 자연생명체들을 눈여겨보기 시작하면서 자연에 대해 자신의 감정을 이입하거나 그것의 입장에서 생각해 보는 등 자연에 대한 ‘생태적 감수성’을 키워가고 있었다.

This study aimed to recognize the importance of the process to foster preservice early childhood teachers who prepared for teaching profession, teach them a lecture of 'Forest Kindergarten' for one semester from a constructivism viewpoint of teacher education and work out the meaning of what they experienced. For this purpose, a qualitative analysis was conducted on 28 preservice early childhood teachers with the analysis data of in-depth interview, small group discussion, reflective journal and group portfolio. The result showed that, first, the preservice early childhood teachers were stepping forward to the forest with their attention and interest through the lecture of 'Forest Kindergarten' and recognizing through the actual experience of the 'Forest Kindergarten' activities that the activities in the forest would be pleasant behaviors. Second, the preservice early childhood teachers were recognizing through this curriculum that a lot of wisdom of life that human could learn were melt in natural eco-system and starting to pay attention to various forms of life in nature that they used to pass by thoughtlessly so that they were fostering their 'ecological sensitivity' for nature by identifying themselves with various forms of life in nature or thinking from their angle.
