국내·외 장애를 주제로 한창작 그림책 등장인물과 갈등 관계 분석

The Comparison of Disabled Characters and Their Conflict Relationships Between Domestic and Overseas Picture Books

본 연구의 목적은 우리나라에 출간된 국내·외 장애를 주제로 한 창작 그림책에 나타난 장애 인물과 주 상호작용자의 이미지, 갈등 관계를 내용분석법으로 비교 분석하여 국내·외 장애 인물들이 어떻게 그려지고, 어떤 갈등 관계를 맺는지에 대해 살펴보고자 하는 것이다. 분석 대상은 2000년 이후 출간된 국내·외 창작 그림책 54권으로 선정하였다. 평가 준거로는 선행연구들을 참고하여, 연구자들이 수정· 보완하였다. 그 결과 국내·외 그림책 속 장애 인물의 장애 유형은 지체장애와 시각장애가 많이 그려지는 것을 볼 수 있다. 장애 대상은 국내·외 그림책 모두 동물보다 인간으로 더 많이 그려졌고, 성별 비율은 국내·외 그림책 모두 남성이 여성보다 더 많이 나타났다. 주 상호작용자의 대상은 국내 그림책에서 부모-가족이며, 국외 그림책에서는 친구로 더 많이 그려지고 있었다. 장애 인물의 갈등은 국내 그림책이 국외 그림책보다 더 많이 그려지고 있었다. 갈등 해결 전략은 국내 그림책은 ‘긍정적인 전략’과 ‘부정적인 전략 후 긍정적인 전략’이 많이 그려졌고 국외 그림책의 경우 ‘부정적인 전략 후 긍정적인 전략’이 많이 나타났다.

The purpose of the study was to compare characters with disabilities and their conflict relationships seen in picture books published both in Korea and in overseas using contents analyses. Fifty four picture books were selected which were published in Korea since 2000. The criteria for analyses were developed based on the previous studies and modified by authors. Results indicated as follows. First, the major types of characters with disability were physical disability, and visual handicap. Second, human characters dominated both in domestic and overseas picture books relative to animal characters. Third, male characters frequently appeared both in domestic and in overseas picture books rather than female characters. Parents and family members were main interactive characters in domestic picture books whereas friends were main interactive characters in overseas picture books. Finally, domestic picture books had more conflicts than overseas picture books had. As for strategies to solve the conflicts, domestic picture books used the positive attitudes and positive attitudes after the negative attitudes whereas overseas picture books used the positive strategies after the negative strategies.
