아동의 정신건강에 대한 사회적 지지의 영향 -자존감의 매개효과를 중심으로-

The Influence of Social Support on Children`s Mental Health: Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Self-esteem

본 연구는 아동에 대한 사회적 지지가 정신건강에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 지역아동센터에 다니는 아동 102명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 조사방법은 자기기입식으로 구성한 구조화된 설문지를 지역아동센터에 방문을 하여 직접 조사를 하였다. 자료 분석은 SPSS 프로그램을 사용하여 빈도분석, 기술통계분석, t-test, 일원배치분산분석(ANOVA), 상관관계분석, 다중회귀분석 등의 기법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 변수 간 상관에서 사회적 지지는 정신건강과 유의미한 부적 상관관계를 갖고 있으며, 사회적 지지는 자존감과 유의미한 정적 상관을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사회적 지지가 정신건강에 미치는 영향에서 사회적 지지 변수의 변화가 정신건강의 하위요인인 대인예민성, 우울, 불안, 적대감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 사회적 지지는 정신건강에 직접적인영향을 미치고, 자존감을 통해 간접적인 영향도 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 결손가정이나 저소득층 가정 아동의 자존감 증진을 모색하는 데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

This study aims to figure a influence of mental health on children’s social support focusing on the mediating effects of children’s self-esteem. The self-reported data were collected from 102 children who attend community child center. Frequency descriptive, t-test, One-way ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression analysis were made by using SPSS software. The results of the study are as follows: First, social support has significant negative correlation with mental health, whereas social support has significant positive correlation with self-esteem. Second, changed level of social support affect sub-factors of metal health which are interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, and hostility. Third, social support has a direct effect on metal health, besides it also shows an indirect effect on mental health through self-esteem. These results represent that children in a community with lower social support show lower level of self-esteem. According to the results, a critical role of macro system such as community is expected when it comes to alleviating children’s self-esteem problem, especially from low income family.
