국내 창작 그림책의 시기별(1995-2015) 아버지 인물의 변화

Change in Father Characters in Korean Picture Books Published from 1995 to 2015

본 연구는 국내 창작 그림책에서 시기별 아버지 등장인물의 변화를 분석해보고 현대 그림책에서 아버지가 어떻게 묘사되어야 하는지 시사점을 제공하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 국내의 도서 판매 상위 6개 서점의 베스트셀러와 권장도서 목록, 서울시와 부산시에 위치한 어린이 도서관의 개관이후 대출 순위 목록과 수상작을 중심으로 아버지가 등장하는 국내 창작 그림책 총 140권을 선정하여 아버지의 등장배경, 함께 등장하는 인물, 감정표현, 부모 행동 유형에 대해 분석하였다. 수집된 자료는 내용분석 후 빈도와 백분율로 처리하였다. 연구 결과를 요약하면 국내 그림책의 아버지는 집안에서 존재하는 비율이 점진적으로 증가하였으며 2001-2004년부터 딸과 함께 등장하는 비율과 부정적인 감정을 표현하는 비율이 증가하였다. 아버지 행동유형은 20년간 지속적으로 일상생활 활동, 놀이접촉, 전반적인 터치가 우세한 것으로 나타나 큰 변동은 없었다. 그러나 2001-2004년에 방관과 같은 감추고 싶은 아버지의 모습을 그리는 시도들이 늘어난 것으로 보아 전체적으로 국내 그림책에서 아버지 등장인물의 변화는 2001-2004년을 기점으로 시작되었다고 할 수 있다.

The aim of this study was to examine father character models exposed to children and change in father characters through analysis of fathers portrayed in domestic children’s picture books, The following question was examined: How have father characters in Korean children's picture books change over time? The subjects were selected by best-selling lists, recommendations from the top six Korean bookstore, lending book ranking lists at children libraries in Seoul and Busan, and award-winning books in Korea. Thus, a total 140 books were selected. The tool was based on checklist of father role in children’s picture books modified from Adams et al.(2011), Anderson and Hamilton(2005) as well as. The books were analyzed with the checklist from June 29, 2015 to August 17, 2015. The data analysis included frequency and percentage for the checklist items calculated with the SPSS 18.0 program. The results of this study are as follows. In domestic children’s picture books, appearance of father at home increased gradually, and the father's appearance with daughter increased rapidly in 2001-2004. From 1995-2000, expression of positive emotion was the major theme. However, from 2001-2004, expression of negative emotion increased much more, change seems like an attempt to break away father. Daily life activity, playful contact and overall touching were predominant actions of paternal characters present in the piacture books, and there was no change over the period. However, from 2001-2004, other actions of parental characters such as remaining a spectator appeared more frequently, and the appearance of father who wants to hide increased. Overall, changing in the character was seen from 2001-2004.
