다문화 그림책을 활용한 문학 활동이 유아의 타문화에 대한 태도 및 인종에 대한 인식 변화에 미치는 영향

The Effects of Literary Activities with Multicultural Picture Books on the Change in Children's Attitudes and Perceptions Toward Other Cultures and Races

본 연구는 다문화 그림책을 활용한 문학 활동이 유아의 타문화에 대한 태도 및 인종에 대한 인식변화에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 다문화 교육의 이해와 문학 활동의 개념 및 이론을 바탕으로 유아의 다문화 경험을 위한 문학 활동 모형을 구성하고, 이를 적용한 후 유아의 타문화에 대한 태도와 인종에 대한 인식의 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 G시에 위치한 H유치원에 다니는 만5세 유아 40명으로 실험집단과 통제집단 각각 20명으로 구성하였으며 다문화 그림책을 활용한 문학활동 프로그램을 구성하고 이를 적용한 실험연구로 실험집단에 한하여 1주에 2권씩 8권을 4주간에 걸쳐 다문화 그림책을 활용한 문학 활동을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 문학 활동에 참여한 실험집단의 유아가 통제집단에 비해 타문화에 대한 태도에 있어서 긍정적인 변화를 보였다. 둘째, 다문화 그림책을 활용한 문학 활동에 참여한 실험집단의 유아가 통제집단에 비해 인종에 대한 태도에 있어서 긍정적 변화를 보였다. 본 연구에서 다문화 그림책을 활용한 문학 활동이 유아들의 단순한 선호나 비 선호서 벗어나 다문화에 대한 구체적이고 긍정적인 경험을 기대하는 호기심을 갖게 되었다는 것을 보여 주는 것이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 결과는 유아들이 다문화에 대한 지식을 습득함으로 다문화에 대해 보다 더 구체적이고 다양한 시각을 가지게 되었음을 의미한다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of literary activities with multicultural picture books on the change in children’s attitudes toward the other cultures and the change in their perception of races; Therefore, 40 children under 5 from H kindergarten in G city were divided equally into a control group (N=20) and test group (N=20) literary activities with multicultural picture books were carried using: 8 volumes of picture books, 2 volumes per week for 4 weeks. The results of this study were as follows: First, the literary activities with multicultural picture books had a positive effect on the change in children’s attitudes, especially on the sub variables for attitude of understanding multiple culturesal. Second, the literary activities with the multicultural picture books had a positive effect on the change in the children’s perception of races. Thus literary activities with the of multicultural picture books with various genres and subject matters are useful for the education on understanding multiple cultures. Therefore, the literary activities by using of multicultural picture books is effective in helping children to perceive multiple cultures and in cultivating their attitude to for positively viewing multiple cultures. It is therefore necessary to use literary activities the multicultural picture books with various genres and subject help promote the understanding of other cultures.
