그림책을 활용한 토의활동이 유아 리더십과 정서지능에 미치는 영향

The Effect of Children's Discussion Activities using Picture Books on their Leadership and Emotional Intelligence

본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 토의활동이 유아 리더십과 정서지능에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는가를 알아보고자 서울시 K구에 위치한 만 5세 유아 48명(실험집단 23명, 비교집단 25명)을 대상으로 실험연구를 실시하였다. 실험집단에게는 그림책을 활용한 토의활동을 실시하고 비교집단에게는 같은 그림책을 읽어주기만 하였다. 실험은 8주간 주 2회 총 16차시에 걸쳐 이루어졌고, 사전·사후 검사를 위해 교사용 유아 리더십 측정도구와 정서지능 척도를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0을 이용하여 집단 간 평균의 차이를 독립표본 t-검정으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 그림책을 활용한 토의활동 여부의 집단 간 차이는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였고 실험집단에서 그림책을 활용한 토의활동을 하고 난뒤 유아 리더십과 정서지능은 토의활동을 실시하기 전보다 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 그림책을 활용한 토의활동의 교육적 가치를 재확인하였을 뿐 아니라 유아의 리더십과 정서 발달을 위해 이러한 교육적 접근을 유아교육현장에서 활용할 수 있는 토대를 마련하였다.

This study investigated how children’s discussion activities using picture books affect the leadership and emotional intelligence of children. S kindergarten located in K district, Seoul was selected for this study. The subjects included 48 five-year-old children: 23 for the experimental group, 25 for the comparison group. The teacher of the experimental group read aloud picture books and held discussion activities. The treatment was given 16 times to the experimental group from August 30 to September 23, 2015 (for about 8 weeks). Prior to and after the experiment, pre-examination and post-examination were done. Each examination was done by measuring the children``s leadership and emotional intelligence. The data were analyzed by independent-sample t-test using the SPSS 21.0 program. The results are as follows. First, the results show that the children’s discussion activities using picture books had a positive influence on their leadership. Improvement in the experimental group was found for every sub-construct of leadership assessment: challenge and confidence, respect for others, self-control, and problem solving. Second, the results show that the children’s discussion activities using the picture books had a positive influence on their emotional intelligence. Three sub-constructs of emotional assessment were encouraged: self-awareness, self-management, and empathy. However, the results show that the children’s discussion activities using picture books did not affect their social skill which is included in emotional intelligence.
