Meaning of the Bookstart Program Experience for Toddler and Mother

본 연구는 영아와 어머니의 북스타트 프로그램 참여 경험을 이해하고 그 의미를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 G시의 교육문화관에서 운영하는 북스타트 프로그램에 참여한 영아와 어머니 15쌍 중5쌍(영아 5명, 어머니 5명)을 대상으로 하였다. 15주간의 활동을 동영상으로 촬영하였으며 그룹면담, 면담, 연구자 저널 등 질적 자료를 수집하여 분석하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과 북스타트 프로그램에 참여한 영아는 그림책, 어머니, 또래, 그리고 교사와 긍정적인 관계를 형성하는 것으로 나타났으며, 어머니는 새로운 관계를 형성하고 아이와 상호작용하는 방법에 대해 알게 되었으며 사회지원 양육서비스를 요구하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 북스타트 프로그램 참여 경험이 영아와 어머니에게주는 의미를 탐색하여 향후 북스타트 프로그램이 활성화 될 수 있는 방안을 모색하였다는 점에 의의가 있다.

The following study was designed to understand the experiences of toddlers and their mothers who participated in the bookstart program and to find their meaning. To this end, 5 pairs of toddlers and mothers who have participated in the bookstart program in G city education community center were chosen from among a total of 15 pairs. The 15 weeks-period program was recorded in video files. As for the data, video recording, group discussion, personal interview and research papers were collected. Through the collected data, the experiences of the toddlers and their mothers who participated in the bookstart program were analyzed. According to the results, the toddler group who participated in the program has a positive-relationship with the drawing books, their mothers, friends of their own age, and teachers. The mother group indicated that they recognized some changes in their daily lives and realized the role of a mother from the experience gained from the bookstart program. Additionally, they requested support from the community. In conclusion, this study is significant because it shows how the bookstart program influenced mothers and toddlers as well as why the bookstart program should be widely implemented.
