동남아시아 관련 그림책의 출간 현황과 외형적 구조 및 내용 특성 분석

The Status of Publications, Structures, and Contents Analysis of Southern Asian related Children's Picture Books Published in Korea

본 연구의 목적은 국내 출간된 동남아시아 관련 그림책 분석을 통해 문학을 활용한 유아 다문화 교육 및 도서 출판에 대한 의미있는 시사점을 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위해 등장인물 혹은 작가가 동남아시아인이거나 동남아시아를 배경으로 하는 동남아시아 관련 그림책 46권을 대상으로, 출간 현황과 외형적 구조 및 내용 특성을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 국내의 동남아시아 관련 그림책의 출판 현황은 우리나라의 다문화사회로의 변화를 반영하고 있으며, 그림책의 유형에 따라 내용 특성과 외형적 구조의 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 교육의 매개체이자 문화적 산출물인 동남아시아관련 그림책의 출간 방향과 활용에 대해 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to analyze Southern Asian related children’s picture books that were published in Korea. To achieve the aim of this research, forty-six children’s picture books were collected through online and offline bookstores, web sites, and so on. The criteria used for the analysis were developed based on the previous studies and modified by authors according to the status of publications, structures, and contents of the picture books. In those findings, the status of publications of those picture books reflected the changes to the multicultural society in Korea, and there were several differences in those picture books with traditional fairy tales and creative stories about their structures and contents. Based on the results, this study discussed future directions to early childhood educators for using these books as teaching materials and to picture book writers for publishing Southern Asian-related children’s picture books.
