이수지 그림책 『이상한 나라의 앨리스』에 나타난 포스트모던적 특성

Postmodern Characteristics found in Lee Suzy`s Picture Book, 『Alice in Wonderland』

본 연구는 이수지의 그림책 『이상한 나라의 앨리스』에 나타난 포스트모던 특성을 탐색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 그림책을 분석한 결과, 이수지의 『이상한 나라의 앨리스』에 나타난 포스트모던적 특성은 첫째, '메타픽션'을 통해 환상과 현실의 경계를 모호하게 하였다. 둘째, '파스티셰기법'을 통해 원작인 루이스 캐럴의『이상한 나라의 앨리스』의 모방을 넘어 작가 이수지만의 시각으로 새롭게 창조된 세계를 표현하였다. 셋째, '상호텍스트성'으로, 원작의 삽화 또는 내용을 유추할 수 있도록 장면을 표현하였고, 다양한 미술작품을 그림책 속으로 가져와서 장면의 배경으로 삼았다. 넷째, '열린 결말'을 통해 이야기의 새로운 창조자로서 독자들에게 다양하게 결말을 생각하도록 하였다. 본 연구는 그림책의 다양한 해석의 가능성을 열어주면서 그림책의 지평을 넓혀 주었다. 그리고 독자로서 유아들에게 다차원적인 경험의 기회를 제공하였으며, 부모와 교사와 같은 성인 독자들에게는 유아들과 더욱 풍부한 문학적 상호작용을 이끌 수 있는 계기를 마련하였다.

The aim of this stduy had was to investigate postmodern characteristics found in Lee Su-zy's picture book, 『Alice in Wonderland』. Based on the results of this study the above picture books has postmodern characteristics follows. First, it is ‘metafiction’ that makes unclear boundaries between the illusive world and reality. Second, it is ‘pastiche’ that is represented by a world which Lee Su-zy shows in the picture book. She created that world in her own way without borrowing from the same-titled original by Lewis Carol. Third, it is ‘intertextuality’ such that the picture book investigated here includes scenes that may remind readers of some texts and illustrations appearing in the original work. In addition, the picture book by Lee Su-zy has backgrounds inside that are illustrated with other artists' paintings. Finally, it is ‘open ending’ with which Lee Su-zy's『Alice in Wonderland』encourages its readers to create different ended for their own. This study suggests that it is possible to interpret picture books from many different views, which contributes to extending the horizon of those books. It also provides young children as readers with the opportunity to experience picture books in multidimensional ways. Furthermore, this study enables adult readers like parents and teachers to make more literary interactions with young children.
