어머니의 그림책에 대한 인식, 유아와의 읽기 상호작용, 유아의 표현언어능력 간의 관계 : 종이책과 전자책의 비교

The Relationships among Mothers' Perceptions on Picture Books, Interactions with Children through Reading, and the Expressive Language Ability of Children : Comparison of Regular Books and E-books

이 연구는 종이책과 전자책에 대한 어머니의 인식과 유아와의 상호작용 양상을 비교하여 살펴보고, 어머니와 유아 간의 그림책 읽기 상호작용이 유아의 표현언어능력에 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해서 수행되었다. 서울에 거주하는 만 5세 유아 200명과 그 어머니 200명을 대상으로 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니들은 유아용 전자책보다 종이책에 대해 더 긍정적인 인식을 보였다. 둘째, 어머니-유아 간의 그림책 읽기 상호작용은 양적·질적 측면에서 모두 전자책 보다 종이책을 활용해서 더 풍부하게 이루어지는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 그림책에 대한 어머니의 인식은 유아와의 그림책 읽기 상호작용과 상관이 있었다. 넷째, 어머니가 종이책의 필요성과 즐거움, 전자책의 필요성과 이점을 인식하는 것이 유아와의 읽기 상호작용에 영향을 미쳤다. 다섯째, 종이책과 전자책의 유형과 상관없이 어머니-유아 간 그림책 읽기 상호작용은 유아의 표현언어능력에 영향을 미치는 변인임이 확인되었다.

This study investigated mothers' perceptions on picture books and their interaction with children using books by comparing paper books and e-books. These variables were used to analyze their effects on the expressive language ability of children. A total of 200 mothers and their 5-year-old children participated in this study. The findings of this study were as follows: First, the mothers showed a more positive perception toward paper book than e-books. Second, the mothers and their children interacted more fully with the paper books with the e-books, measured quantitatively and qualitatively. Third, the mothers' perceptions on books were correlated with their interactions with their children using the books. Fourth, the mother's perceptions on the necessity and pleasure of reading paper books or the necessity and benefits of reading e-books affected their reading interactions with their children. Lastly, the mother-child reading interactions explained the expressive language ability of a child, regardless of the types of books.
