그림책의 협동 요소 분석과 협동활동에서 나타난 또래관계의 양상 : 협동 주제 그림책을 중심으로

Analysis of Picture Books and Children's Peer Relations in Cooperative Activities with Picture Books

본 연구는 협동 주제 그림책에 포함되어 있는 협동의 요소를 분석하고, 협동 주제 그림책을 활용한 협동활동에서 나타나는 유아의 또래관계를 질적으로 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구를 위해 G시에 소재하는 Y어린이집 만 3세 유아들 18명이 협동 주제 그림책을 활용한 협동활동에 참여하였다. 연구결과 협동 주제 그림책들은 글과 그림을 통해 협동의 요소를 다양하게 표상하고, 유아가 공감할 수 있는 사회적 문제와 그에 대한 해결책을 제시하여 협동을 쉽게 이해하도록 하고 있으며, 사회적 가치로서 협동을 실현하고자 하고, 문제에 적절한 사회적 기술을 제시하였다. 협동 주제 그림책을 활용한 협동활동에서 유아들은 초기상황에 교사에게 의존하고, 갈등해결의 방법으로 울음, 문제회피, 힘을 이용하였으며, 협동놀이가 오래 지속되지 못하였다. 중·후기로 접어들면서 '우리'라는 집단을 형성하고 공동의 목표를 설정하는 모습을 보였고, 상호의존적인 관계를 유지하고 역할 나누기를 통해 공동의 목표를 달성하고자 하였다. 또한 활동을 주도하는 또래가 등장하며, 주도적인 유아를 중심으로 점차 협동놀이가 지속되는 시간이 길어졌고, 문제를 해결하는 방법에 있어서 초보 수준의 사회적 기술을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 협동 주제 그림책의 교육매체로서의 가능성을 보여주었고, 유아를 위한 협동활동에 적합한 그림책과 프로그램 개발에 기초 자료를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 본다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate cooperation factors of picture books whose subjects were cooperation and to examine peer relations of preschool children in cooperative activities with picture books. The participants of this study included 18 preschool children three years of age who attended Y child care center located in G city. The study was done by selecting 6 picture books and carrying out cooperative activities for children. The picture book activities for children were done 3-4 times a week for a total of 25 sessions from March 7 to June 3, 2016. The results of this study are as follows: First, the pictures and writings of the picture books had factors of 'positive mutual dependence' and 'common goal' for close relations with others. Picture books whose subject was cooperation represented social problems and solutions to let preschool children empathize with the text and pictures and understand cooperation as well as achieve the realization of cooperation as a social value and contextual use of vocabulary such as 'we', 'each other' and 'together'. Problem solving strategies included 'help each other', 'communicate', 'give question and answer', 'empathy', and 'mutual cooperation', and those strategies were properly used at problem solving. Second, children’s peer relations in the process of cooperation activities with cooperative picture books showed a qualitative change over time. The results of this study showed the educational meaning of cooperative picture books for young children. The significance of this study would include the provision of baseline data for the development of picture books and programs on cooperation education.
