Song Chang-Il's Children's Literature during the Japanese imperialism

송창일(宋昌一)은 일제시대에 창작동화집을 간행한 몇 안 되는 작가 중 한 사람이다. 송창일은 1930년대에 동요, 동화, 소년소설, 평론 등에 걸쳐 1929년부터 1959년까지 약 30년간 아동문학가로 활동하며 왕성한 활동을 펼쳤다. 그의 작품은 일제시대부터 현재까지 각종 아동문학 선·전집에 수록되는 등 한국 아동문학사를 관통하며 일정한 문학적 성과를 거두기도 하였다. 송창일은 1930년대 등장한 전문작가로 이전의 소년문단과 구분되는 1930년대 신진작가 군(群)에 속한다. 한국아동문학사에서 1930년대는 이념성이 가라앉고 개인의 일상으로 중심이 옮겨가면서 문단의 지형도가 변화된 시기이다. 송창일은 1930년대에 새롭게 등장한 전문작가로서 계급주의가 만연하던 시기에 활동을 시작했으나, 계급주의 문학에 전적으로 참여하지 않고 유년 지향적의 작품들을 주로 발표했다. 송창일은 한국아동문학의 성장 발전기인 1930년대 아동문단에 일정한 부분을 차지하는 작가임에도 그에 대한 개별 연구가 전무한 실정이다. 그간 다뤄지지 않았던 송창일의 생애와 작품세계를 1930년대 아동문단의 특수성에 비추어 살펴봄으로써 한국아동문학사에서 그의 위치를 가늠해 보고자 한다.

Song Chang-il is one of the writers who published creative collections of fairy tales. Song Chang-il led an active life as a writer of fairy tales for about thirty years from 1929 to 1959. His works achieved literary performances through Korean history of children's literature, being printed in all sorts of fairy tales' selections or collections from the colonial period of Japan to now. Song Chang-il appeared as a professional writer in 1930s and belonged to a group of rising writers who distinguished themselves from previous literary circles on children books. In 1930s, the topographical map of literary circles was changing showing a decline of ideology and focusing on individuality and daily affairs. Song Chang-il began his career in the 1930s as a writer who emerged as a professional writer. However, he did not fully participate in the literary works of the classics, but mainly presented his childhood oriented works. Although Singh Chang is a writer who occupies a certain part of children 's literature in the 1930s', involved in the growth and development of Korean children 's literature, there are no individual studies on it. I will try to assess his position in the history of Korean children's literature by looking at the life and works of Song Chang-il, which has not been addressed in the past, in light of the particularity of the children's literature of the 1930s.
