읽기전략에 기초한 그림책 읽기 활동이 유아의 읽기 흥미도 및 태도에 미치는 영향

The Influence of Reading Activities of a Picture Book based on Reading Strategies on Children’s Interest in and Attitude toward Reading

본 연구의 목적은 읽기전략에 기초한 그림책 읽기가 유아의 읽기 흥미도 및 태도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는데 있다. 연구 대상은 S시에 위치한 P어린이집에 재원중인 만 5세 유아 42명(실험집단 21명, 비교집단 21명)이었다. 연구를 위해 실험집단 유아에게는 읽기전략에 기초한 그림책 읽기활동을 실시하고, 비교집단 유아에게는 동일한 그림책을 일반적인 방법에 의한 읽기 활동을 실시하였다. 연구결과 읽기 흥미도의 경우 읽기전략에 기초한 그림책 읽기 활동을 실시한 실험집단의 유아들과 일반적인 읽기 활동을 실시한 유아들 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 반면 읽기 태도의 경우 실험집단 유아의 사후 읽기 태도 점수가 비교집단 유아의 사후 읽기 태도 점수보다 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 더 높은 것으로 나타났다.본 연구 결과를 종합해보면, 읽기전략에 기초한 그림책 읽기가 유아의 읽기 흥미도와 태도에 미치는 영향이 각각 다르다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 읽기전략에 기초한 그림책 읽기가 잠재적 읽기능력인 읽기 흥미와 태도에 미치는 영향이 다를 수 있음을 시사하는 것이므로 읽기 지속성과 가능성에 대한 보다 체계적인 변인설정과 지도방법이 마련되어야 할 것이다.

The aim of this study was to examine how does picture book reading based on a reading strategy influences children’s interest in and attitude toward reading. The participants of the study were 42 children aged 5 years (21 for the experiment group and 21 for the comparison group) from P day care center located in S city. A Picture book reading activity based on a reading strategy was done for the children in the experiment group while the reading activity with the same picture book based on a general method was done for those in the comparison group. The results showed that for interest in reading, there was no significant difference observed between both groups, whereas for attitude toward reading, the scores of the experiment group were higher than those of the comparison group at a statistically significant level.The results of this study suggest that the picture book reading based on a reading strategy has a different effect on children’s interest in and attitude toward reading. This implies that picture book reading based on a reading strategy may have a different effect on potential reading ability and therefore, more systematic setting of variables and instruction methods in terms of durability and possibility of reading are necessary.
