'학교 안전교육 7대 표준안'에 대한 유치원 교사의 영역별 인식 및 운영 실태

Early childhood teachers' awareness and application of the seven standard school safety education guidelines for young children

본 연구는 ‘학교 안전교육 7대 표준안’에 대한 유치원 교사의 영역별 인식과 운영 실태를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 유치원 교사 255명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 첫째, ‘7대 표준안’에 대한 영역별 인식을 살펴본 결과, 교사들은 전반적으로 유아 안전교육에 대한 인식이 높은 편으로 나타났으나 직업안전영역이 타 영역에 비해 어렵다고 느끼고 있었다. 교수실행자로는 담임교사가 일상과 좀 더 가까운 영역인 생활안전과 폭력예방 및 신변보호를 교육하는 것이 적합하다고 여기는 편이었고, 나머지 영역은 외부 안전교육 전문강사에 의한 교육이 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, ‘7대 표준안’에 따른 영역별 운영 실태를 살펴본 결과, 주로 멀티미디어를 활용하는 시청각 교육을 통한 안전교육이 이루어지고 있는 편이었다. 모든 안전교육 영역에 대해 교사가 교육하고 있는 경우가 많고, 외부 전문강사에 의한 교육은 거의 이루어지지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 유치원 교사들의 인식과 실제 운영 등에 대한 현장의 다양한 목소리가 반영되어 향후 유아 안전교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 제안하였다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다.

Due to the recent increase of natural and man-made disasters, the Ministry of Education in South Korea made an official announcement about the "Seven Standard School Safety Education Guidelines" as a systematic school safety support system. However, there are other concerns about applying these guidelines in practice. The purpose of this study is to investigate 255 early childhood teacher's awareness and application of these guidelines. For that purpose, we developed a questionnaire that contains 35 questions asking about teachers’ awareness and application of the guidelines. First, teachers seemed to know the difference between the guidelines and prior safety education. Teachers problematized the age-appropriateness of job safety education for young children and difficulty in dealing with all seven safety areas. Second, teachers acknowledged that the guidelines are helpful. However, with regards to pedagogy, instructional media from the internet seemed to be used more frequently than other resourcess. They proposed the use of professional safety education organizations or institutes within their communities. The significance of this study is to provide an opportunity to rethink and come up with better approaches for teaching the seven standard safety education guidelines by listening to the challenges teachers actually had to challenges that they actually deal with in the kindergartens.
