리오타르의 서사적 지식을 통해 본 유아교육의 방향

The Direction of Early Childhood Education Through the Narrative Knowledge of Lyotard

본 연구는 리오타르의 서사적 지식의 의미가 유아교육에 주는 함의를 고찰함으로써 유아교육의 새로운 방향을 모색해보고자 하였다. 리오타르는 기호로 표기되는 메타 서사적 지식 역시 소서사적 지식의 한 갈래일 뿐임을 드러내며, 절대지는 존재하지 않는다고 보았다. 그를 통해 리오타르는 지식의 유동성과 미결정성을 장려함으로써 주체간의 언어게임을 통해 지식은 늘 생성 가능한 것임을 밝혔다. 이러한 리오타르의 서사적 지식의 의미를 통해 살펴본 유아교육의 방향은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아교육은 획일적인 메타서사를 답습하기보다 유아들의 다양한 소서사적 지식을 인정함으로써 풍부한 리좀적 교육내용을 취해야 한다. 둘째, 유아교육은 메타서사를 개념으로 가르치기보다 유아가 직접 물질과 만나고 체험하며 그들만의 소서사(앎)를 생성하는 교육 방법으로 나아가야 한다. 셋째, 유아교육은 메타언어로 아이와 대상을 바라보게 할 것이 아니라 다양한 언어게임 속에서 서로의 소서사를 생성하며 타자의 차이성과 다양성을 인정하는 방향으로 나아가야 한다. 리오타르의 서사적 지식의 의미를 바탕으로 유아교육의 방향을 새롭게 모색해보는 것은, 기존의 유아교육에서 간과하고 있었던 지식의 본질을 되짚어봄으로써 미래사회 준비를 요청받는 유아교육의 근본부터 새로이 다지며 재정립할 수 있는 단초를 제공한다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

The purpose of this study was to explore a new direction of early childhood education by considering the implications of the narrative knowledge of early childhood education. Lyotard reveals that the metanarrative knowledge represented by symbols is merely a branch of narrative knowledge, and that absolute knowledge does not exist. And, by promoting the fluidity and uncertainty of knowledge, Lyotard has shown that knowledge can be always generated through language games between subjects. The direction of early childhood education, which has been explored through the meaning of Lyotard's narrative knowledge, is as follows. First, rather than following a uniform metanarrative, early childhood education should take abundant lesson education content by recognizing various children's narrative knowledge. Second, rather than teaching the concept of metanarrative, early childhood education should be a way to meet and experience the material directly and to create their own. Third, early childhood education should move toward recognizing the difference and diversity of the others, creating a narrative in various language games. Based on the meaning of narrative knowledge in Lyotard, we are looking for a new direction of early childhood education by looking back at the nature of knowledge that was overlooked in the existing early childhood education. This implies that early childhood education, which is necessary to prepare children for their future society, can provide a basis for renewing and establishing from the beginning.
