시와 시그림책에 대한 아동의 반응 분석

Analysis of Children's Responses to Poetry and Poetry Picture Books

본 연구는 시와 시그림책에 대한 아동의 반응을 살펴봄으로써 아동이 시와 시그림책을 어떻게 향유하는지를 알아보고자 했다. 이와 같은 연구의 목적에 따라 글 텍스트를 공유하는 시와 시그림책의 짝을 아동에게 제시하고 각각에 대한 아동의 반응을 수집하여 반응의 내용을 면밀히 들여다보았다. 그 결과 시에 대한 인지적 반응에서는 추론적 읽기의 과정을 드러내는 반응들이 많았고, 시그림책에 대한 인지적 반응에는 서사적 요소가 많이 포함되어 있었다. 시에 대한 정서적 반응은 아동의 경험에서 비롯되는 경우가 대부분이었고, 그림책에 대한 정서적 반응을 촉발하는 기제는 그림책의 그림이었다. 시에 대한 심미적 반응에는 시 장르에 대한 아동의 배경 지식이 반영되었고, 시그림책에 대한 심미적 반응에는 시와의 비교 내용이 주로 담겼다. 연구의 결과는 아동이 장르의 특성을 반영하며 능동적인 읽기를 하는 독자라는 점을 확인시켜주었고, 아동에게 시와 시그림책의 고유성을 존중하며 그것들을 폭넓게 감상할 기회를 제공하고, 그것을 즐기는 방법을 안내해야 할 필요를 제기한다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how children respond to poetry and poetry picture books by examining the children's reactions to each. For the purpose of this study, children were offered two pairs of poetry and poetry picture books that shared written texts. Then, the children's responses to each pair were collected and analyzed in detail. The findings indicate that, in the cognitive response to poetry, there were many reactions for the process of inferential reading, and the cognitive response to the poetry picture books contained many narrative elements. Additionally, emotional responses to poetry were mostly derived from children's experience, and pictures of picture books triggered emotional responses to the poetry picture books. Finally, the aesthetic response to poetry reflects the children's background knowledge about the genre of poetry, and in the poetry picture books, the aesthetic response was mainly about the comparison with poetry. The results confirm that children are active readers who read by reflecting the characteristics of the genre. This study raises the need for children to be given the opportunity to appreciate poetry and poetry picture books with respect to the uniqueness of each and the need to guide children on how to enjoy them.
