아동문학교재에 수록된 그림책에 나타난 젠더감수성 : 국내 창작그림책을 중심으로

Sensitivity Found in Pictures Books Contained in Children's Literature Textbooks for College Education : Focusing on Korean Creative Picture Books

본 연구는 아동문학교재에 수록된 국내 창작그림책의 젠더감수성을 알아보기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 연구를 위해 아동문학교재 22권에 수록된 국내 창작그림책 220권의 등장인물 성별빈도, 등장배경, 감정표현에 대해 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 선행연구를 참고하여 분석 준거를 마련하였으며, 수집된 자료는 내용분석 후 빈도와 백분율로 처리하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 첫째, 아동문학교재 속 국내 창작그림책의 성별빈도는 남성, 여성, 중성 순으로 나타나지만 연도가 지나감에 따라 남성과 여성의 격차가 줄어드는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 등장배경에서 여성은 가사배경에서만 높게 나타났으며, 남성은 가사배경을 제외한 모든 등장배경에서 높은 빈도를 보였다. 셋째, 감정표현을 살펴본 결과, 긍정적 · 부정적 감정표현에서 모두 남성이 높은 빈도가 나타나 그림책 속에서 여전히 남성위주의 성 고정관념이 드러나는 것으로 판단되었다. 이와 같은 결과는 예비유아교사들의 올바른 젠더감수성 정립을 위해 아동문학교재에 수록되는 국내 창작그림책의 균형 잡힌 시각이 필요함을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine gender sensitivity found in pictures books contained in children’s literature textbooks for college education. To address this goal, this author analyzed 220 Korean creative picture books contained in 22 children’s literature textbooks for college education in terms of the gender frequency of the characters, the background of the character appearance, and emotional expressions. Referring to advanced research, this researcher established a criteria for the analysis, and collected data went through content analysis and then frequency and percentage analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, according to the results of gender frequency found in those children’s picture books, masculine, feminine, and neuter genders were found more in that order; however, as years go by, the gap between men and women gets narrowed. Second, about the background of the character appearance, women are mostly housewives while men appear in all other areas rather than housework. Third, according to the results of examining emotional expressions, both positive and negative emotional expressions are found often in men, which means that in picture books, male-oriented gender stereotypes are still found. These results imply that to help future early childhood teachers to establish righteous gender sensitivity, it is necessary to have a balanced view in picture books contained in children"s literature textbooks for college education.
