앤서니 브라운의 그림책을 활용한 협동미술활동이 유아의 자아존중감과 또래유능성에 미치는 효과

The Effects of Collaborative Art Activity Using Anthony Brown's Picture Books on Young Children's Self-esteem and Peer Competence

본 연구의 목적은 앤서니 브라운의 그림책을 활용한 협동미술활동이 유아의 자아존중감과 또래유능성에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 연구대상은 서울 G구에 소재한 P 어린이집과 H 어린이집의 만 5세 유아 26명(실험집단 13명, 통제집단 13명)으로 실험집단은 앤서니 브라운의 그림책을 활용한 협동미술활동을, 통제집단은 생활주제를 중심으로 한 그림책 읽기 후 그리기 활동을 하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 앤서니 브라운의 그림책을 활용한 협동미술활동은 유아의 자아존중감에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 자아존중감의 하위요인 중 또래수용, 신체적 능력, 어머니 수용, 자기수용에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 둘째, 앤서니 브라운의 그림책을 활용한 협동미술활동은 유아의 또래유능성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 또래유능성의 하위요인인 주도성, 친사회성, 사교성에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 결론적으로 앤서니 브라운의 그림책을 활용한 협동미술활동은 유아의 자아존중감과 또래유능성을 향상시키기 위한 효과적인 교수학습방법임을 알 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study was to provide basic data to help infants develop their self-esteem and peer competence by examining the effects of the collaborative art activities using Anthony Brown's picture books on infants' self-esteem and peer competence. The subjects of this study were 26 infants (13 experimental group, and 13 comparative group) who took part in the 5th grade of the P and N infant care-centers located at G district, Seoul. For the experimental group, 13 subjects participated in the collaborative art activities using Anthony Brown's picture books. For the comparative group,13 subjects were involved in drawing activities through reading picture books with topics about routine lives. The results of this study were as follows. First, the collaborative art activities using Anthony Brown's picture books have positive effects on infants’ self-esteem. Specifically, among the subordinate for self-esteem, there was a statistically meaningful improvement in peer acceptance, physical ability, mother acceptance and self acceptance. The cognitive ability was not statistically significant, but the overall mean value was improved. Second, the collaborative art activities using Anthony Brown's picture books have a positive effect on infants’ peer competence. Specifically, there was a statistically significant difference in the subordinate factors of peer competence; initiative, friendly sociality, and sociability. In conclusion, the collaborative art activities using Anthony Brown's picture books positively affected infants’ self-esteem and peer competence, confirming that they were effective methods for improving infants’ self-esteem and peer competence.
