어머니의 인성특성, 양육행동, 유아의 정서조절능력과 또래유능성 간의 관계

The Relationships Among Mothers' Personality, Parenting Behavior, Young Children's Emotional Regulation and Peer Competence

본 연구는 어머니의 인성특성, 양육행동, 유아의 정서조절과 또래유능성 간에 관계를 살펴보고 각 변인들이 또래유능성에 어떠한 경로로 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 울산 지역에 있는 만 4-5세 유아와 그들의 어머니 341명이다. 연구결과는 첫째, 또래유능성과 관련하여 어머니의 인성특성, 양육태도, 유아 정서조절 능력의 변인들 중 어머니의 온정적 양육태도와 유아의 정서조절능력이 높은 상관관계를 보여주었다. 둘째, 어머니의 인성특성은 양육행동을 매개로 하여 유아의 정서조절능력에 간접적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났으며, 어머니의 양육행동은 유아의 정서조절능력을 매개로 유아의 또래유능성에 간접적으로 영향을 미치고 있었다. 아울러 어머니의 인성특성은 어머니의 양육행동과 유아의 정서조절능력을 매개로 하여 또래유능성에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났으며, 유아의 내적 특성인 정서조절능력은 매개역할을 함과 동시에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the pathway of mothers' personality, parenting behavior, young children's emotional regulation affecting peer competence. In this study, the subjects were 341 young children (170 boys, 171 girls) 4 to 5 years of age and their mothers lived in Ulsan. The major results of this study were as follows; First, as far as the correlations among mothers' personality, parenting behavior, young children's emotional regulation and peer competence, it was found that warm maternal parenting behavior and young children's emotional regulation were positively related to peer competence. Second, mothers' personality showed an indirect effect on young children's emotional regulation through maternal parenting behavior. Extroversion among the mothers' personalities affected warm maternal parenting behavior and young children's emotional regulation in that order. Third, parenting behavior showed an indirect effect on peer competence, mediated by young children's emotional regulation. It was found that a higher affectionate parenting behavior among affectionate maternal parenting behaviors became higher for young children's emotional regulation which affected peer competence. Lastly, mothers' personality showed an indirect effect on peer competence, mediated by maternal parenting behavior and young children's emotional regulation. In other words, extroversion among the mothers' personalities had a positive influenced on affectionate maternal parenting behavior and young children's emotional regulation subsequently. As a result, peer competence, which is positively influenced has an indirect effect on young children's emotional regulation.
