그룬트비 교육사상의 유아교육적 함의 : '살아있는 말'을 중심으로

Early Childhood Educational Implications of Grundtvig Education Thought : Focusing on the 'living word'

본 연구는 국가 주도의 근대적, 계몽주의적 공교육을 비판하고, 학생, 교사, 학부모 간의 ‘살아 숨 쉬는 상호작용’을 바탕으로 하는 자유로운 삶 자체를 어린이 교육의 기초로 삼아야 함을 주장한 덴마크 사상가 그룬트비의 교육사상을 소개하고, 그의 교육사상 중 하나인 ‘살아있는 말’을 중심으로 그것이 오늘날 유아교육에 주는 시사점을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 그룬트비 교육사상의 시대·사상적 배경을 먼저 살펴보았다. 그런 다음 그의 교육사상의 특징을 3가지, 즉 폴켈리드 정신을 담은 교육, 삶을 위한 살아 숨 쉬는 교육, 살아있는 말에 의한 상호작용 교육으로 소개하였다. 3가지 중에서 ‘살아있는 말’은 그룬트비가 추구한 삶을 위한 교육의 중심을 이루는 개념이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 그룬트비의 ‘살아있는 말’이 유아교육 현장에서 유아의 입말을 통해 시와 노랫말로 드러나고, 교사가 육성으로 불러주는 노래가 울려 퍼지고, 유아의 생동적인 삶의 말들이 담기고, 민족의 정신과 역사가 입말로 이어질 수 있다는 점에서 시사점을 줄 수 있음을 제안하고자 하였다.

The purpose of this study was to introduce the educational philosophy of Grundtvig, Danish educational thinker and to determine the implications for early childhood education. His educational ideas criticize the nation-led, modern, enlightenment of public education and argue that the free life based on the "living interaction" between students, teachers, and parents is the basis of children's education. We also aimed to clarify the implications for early childhood education, focusing on 'living word', one of his educational ideas. To this end, we first looked at the historical and social background of Grundtvig's educational thought, and characterized his educational thought by teaching folkelighed's spirit, living and breathing education for life, and interactive education for the 'living word'. The 'living word' emphasized by Grundtvig is the concept of 'education for life' pursued by Grundtvig. Therefore, in this study, we would like to suggest some implications for early childhood education practice. The 'living word' of Grundtvig can be utilized in early childhood education practice in which children's words are revealed through poetry and lyrics, in which teachers sing songs for their upbringing, in which children speak the live word, and the teacher and the child talk about the spirit and history of the nation.
