Strategic Extraction Treatment of Maxillary Lateral Incisors for Skeletal Class 3 Patient with Maxillary Central Incisors Root Resorption Due to Bilateral Impaction of Maxillary Canine and 5-Year of Follow-up

This case report presents a patient with bilateral impacted maxillary canines that caused root resorption of the maxillary central incisors. The treatment involved extraction of the maxillary lateral incisors, followed by successful traction of the impacted canines. Throughout the entire orthodontic treatment period, continuous growth observation and unilateral extraction of maxillary lateral incisors were conducted, resulting in a satisfactory and stable occlusal relationship along with harmonious aesthetics post-treatment. Five years after completion of the treatment, the patient returned for evaluation, and it was confirmed that the occlusal relationship remained stable and that the root resorption of the maxillary central incisors had not progressed further.
