Evaluating the Interaction between Orthodontic Appliances and Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Establishing Clinical Guidelines for Safe Imaging Practices

Prior to the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, fixed orthodontic brackets and wires present challenges not only for the radiologist but also for the orthodontist. As orthodontists, it is imperative to understand the interactions between orthodontic appliances and MRI scans, along with the variations in these responses based on the materials employed. Such knowledge is crucial for ensuring patient safety and optimizing clinical outcomes during imaging procedures.
