노인들이 구성하는 학습의 의미에 관한 문화 기술적 연구

An ethnographic study on the meaning of senior citizens' Learning

이 연구의 목적은 문화 기술적 연구방법을 통하여 노인대학생들이 학습 일상 속에서 보여주는 학습의 의미를 살피는 것이다. 이를 위해 노인들을 크게 '적극적 참여형'과 '제한적 참여형' 으로 유형화하였다. 이들은 학습 일상 속에서 다음과 같은 의미체계를 만들어갔다. 첫째, 그들은 다양한 학습 프로그램에 참가함으로써 학습하는 즐거움을 느꼈다. 이로 인해 노인들은 '학습인'으로 변화하였다. 둘째, 노인들은 다양한 여가활동에 참여함으로써 여가의 소비자에서 '여가의 생산자'로 거듭 나게 되었다. 셋째, 노인들은 동료 노인과 강사, 행정진, 지역사회와의 관계망 속에서 '사회적 지지기제'를 만들어 갔다. 넷째, 그들은 여러 봉사활동 및 세대공동체교육을 통하여 '존경받는 어르신'으로서의 역할을 체득하였다. 결국, 학습은 인생의 겨울을 맞이하고 있는 노인들에게도 커다란 영향을 끼친다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 즉, 노인들은 지혜로운 학습활동을 통해서 삶의 여유로움을 만끽하고 삶의 질을 올리기도 하였다. This study started as an effort to illuminate the context and the meaning of senior citizens' learning, which was focused on the various programs adopted by a specific educational facility for the elderly in the northern Seoul area. By an ethnographic study method, I tried to explore how the elderly are being categorized, and what kind of meanings influence them in the process of learning. I divided the daily life of senior citizens' learning into four categories. First of all, I found that the elderly enjoyed the pleasure of learning by taking part in the various programs. And the aged people interpreted their leisure anew. They experienced perspective transformation by being involved in leisure programs. Also, the aged people form a network by being involved in the same age group, which in turn forms the mechanism for a social support relationship. Finally, They tried to gain authority over the community and other generations. I concluded that the senior citizens improve their daily life both quantitatively and qualitatively by getting involved in learning activities. As a result, there have to be a variety of high-quality support systems for the learning of the elderly. Because this in turn changed their ways of life in the process of upgrading the quality of life.
