3세 유아의 혼잣말에 관한 질적 연구

A qualitative study on the private speech of three-year-old children

본 연구는 유치원 생활에서 나타난 3세 유아 혼잣말의 특징과 혼잣말이 갖는 의미를 살펴보고자 하는 데 있었다. 이를 위해 Van Manen(1997)의 관찰방법을 연구의 목적에 맞게 수정. 보완하여 2005년 3월부터 8월까지 약 25주 동안 매일 참여관찰을 통한 체험연구를 시도하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 유치원 생활의 모든 일과 활동에서 나타난 유아의 혼잣말은 '낯선 상황에 대한 탐색을 하기', '익숙해진 상황에서 즐거움을 느끼기', '활동 상황을 내면화하기'를 거치면서 지속적으로 나타났다. 또한 이러한 상황에서 유아들이 사용하는 혼잣말은 유아들의 행위를 안내ㆍ조직화ㆍ구조화하는 인지적 작용을 하면서 유아 자신을 조절하고 계획하는 자기 조절적 기능을 가지고 있었다. The present study purposed to investigate the characteristics and the meaning of three-year-old children's private speech in their kindergarten life. Researchers used Van Manen's (1997) observation method, adapting it for the purpose of this study, participant observation was used everyday for around 25 weeks from March to August 2005 and the results are analyzed. Children's private speech, which is revealed in every routine of the class, has seen continuously in order of "exploring unfamiliar situation," "experiencing joy in familiar situation" and "internalizing activities." Furthermore, children's private speech carried out cognitive functions of guiding, organizing and structuring their behavior as well as self-regulating ones of adjusting and planning themselves.
