Sequential Mediating Effects of Maladaptive Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies and Separation Anxiety in the Relationship Between Harm Avoidance Temperament and Overprotective Parenting Attitude in Mothers of Adolescent Children

연구목적: 청소년기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 위험회피 기질과 과보호적 양육태도 간의 관계에서 부적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략과 분리불안의 순차적 매개효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 연구방법: 본 연구의 대상은 자료수집에 동의한 부산시와 김해시 각 1개 초등학교 5, 6학년에 재학 중인 자녀를 둔 어머니 210명이다. 위험회피 기질, 부적응적 인지적 정서 조절 전략, 분리불안 및 과보호적 양육태도는 자기보고식 질문지를 통해 측정되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 27.0과 Process Macro Model 6을 통해 분석되었고, Perason 상관분석, 매개효과 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 어머니의 과보호적 양육태도는 위험회피 기질, 부적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략, 분리불안과 정적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 어머니의 위험회피 기질과 과보호적 양육태도 간의 관계에서 부적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략과 분리불안의 순차적 매개효과가 유의하였고, 어머니의 위험회피 기질이 과보호적 양육태도에 미치는 직접효과도 유의하게 나타났다. 결론: 청소년기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 위험회피 기질과 과보호적 양육태도 간의 관계에서 부적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략과 분리불안은 순차적 매개효과를 보였다. 따라서 청소년기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 위험회피 기질로 나타나는 과보호적 양육태도를 줄이기 위해서 부적응적 인지적 정서조절 전략의 감소를 통한 분리불안의 완화 과정이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Objective: This study aimed to examine the sequential mediating effects of maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and separation anxiety in the relationship between harm-avoidance temperament and overprotective parenting attitude in mothers of adolescent children. Methods: A survey was administered to 210 mothers having children in the 5th and 6th grades of elementary school. Pearson correlation coefficient was determined, and the mediating effect was confirmed using Model 6 of Process Macro. Results: Maternal overprotective parenting attitude was found to be positively correlated with harm avoidance temperament, maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, and separation anxiety. In the relationship between maternal harm avoidance temperament and overprotective parenting attitude, the sequential mediating effects of maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and separation anxiety were significant, and the direct effect of maternal harm avoidance temperament on overprotective parenting attitude was also significant. Conclusions: This study provides a framework for an integrated understanding of the individual characteristics of mothers of adolescent children who display overprotective parenting attitudes by revealing the sequential mediating effects of maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and separation anxiety in the relationship between harm avoidance temperament and overprotective parenting attitudes.
