저소득층 대학생의 자기이해와 진로의식 및 진로결정 간의 관계에서 진로계획의 매개효과

Mediating effects of career planning on the relationship between self-understanding and career awareness and career decisions among low-income college students

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 저소득층 대학생의 자기이해와 진로의식이 진로결정에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 진로계획의 매개효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 삼성꿈장학재단의 교육소외 아동청소년 종단연구 데이터를 활용하여, ‘대학희망장학’ 프로그램에 2020년부터 3년간 참여한 장학생 280명의 2021년, 2022년 데이터를 바탕으로 변인들 간의 관계를 구조방정식 모델링([SEM] Structural Equation Modeling)을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과: 본 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기이해와 진로결정 간의 관계에서 진로계획의 부분매개효과가 나타났다. 둘째, 진로의식과 진로결정 간의 관계에서 진로계획의 완전매개효과가 나타났다. 결론: 이러한 결과는 저소득층 대학생의 진로결정 수준을 높이기 위해서는 대학생 개인이 자기를 이해하고 진로 가치를 정립하는 것은 물론 구체적인 진로계획이 필요함을 의미한다. 그러므로 저소득층 대학생의 성공적인 사회 진출과 직업인으로의 입직을 돕기 위해서는 대학은 물론 사회적 차원에서 진로 계획하고 구체적으로 구성할 수 있는 교육을 제공해야 함을 시사한다.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the longitudinal mediating effect of career planning in the process by which self-understanding and career awareness influence career decision-making among university students. Methods: Data from the Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation’s longitudinal study on marginalized children and adolescents were utilized, specifically focusing on data from 280 students who participated in the “College Hope Scholarship” program in 2021 and 2022. The relationships among the variables were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results: The findings of this study are as follows. First, career planning was found to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between self-understanding and career decision-making. Second, career planning showed a full mediating effect in the relationship between career awareness and career decision-making. Conclusions: These results suggest that to enhance career decision levels among university students, individuals need not only to understand themselves and improve their level of career awareness but also to develop and manage specific career plans. Therefore, it is proposed that both universities and society should provide education related to career planning to support students’ successful transition into society and their integration as professionals.
