Historical Contributions and Future Prospects of Korean Educational Politics

본 연구는 지난 30년간 한국교육정치학의 발전 경로를 분석하고 미래 전망을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 한국교육정치학의 형성과 발전 과정에서 이루어진 학문적 성과와 과제, 미래 교육환경의 변화와 미국교육정치학의 동향을 검토하였다. 연구 결과, 한국교육정치학은 양적 성장과 주제의 다변화, 방법론적 발전을 이루었으나, 특정 주제의 편중, 연구 방법의 정형화, 학문적 확산과 대중화 부족 등의 과제가 남아 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 저출생･고령화에 따른 학령인구 감소, 다문화 사회의 진입, 글로벌 경쟁 심화, 교육의 디지털 전환 등 미래 환경 변화와 더불어, 미국교육정치학의 국제적･다학제적, 생태학적･정치경제적･비판적 접근 등 유연하고 다양한 연구 동향을 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로, 한국교육정치학의 미래 발전 방향을 첫째, 교육 현장의 변화에 따른 현장 중심의 탐구 확대, 둘째, 글로벌 흐름에 부합하는 거시적 탐구 주제의 증가, 셋째, 다양성과 복잡성을 반영한 새로운 접근 시도, 넷째, 방법론적 다변화와 확장, 다섯째, 학문공동체의 활성화와 질적 성장을 전망하였다. 궁극적으로 다양한 현장의 인재들이 참여하는 학문적 장(academic field)을 마련하여 학문공동체의 형성과 발전을 도모할 것을 제언하였다.

This study aims to analyse the development path of Korean educational politics over the past 30 years and suggest future prospects. To do so, we examined the academic achievements and challenges in the formation and development of Korean educational politics, changes in the future educational environment, and trends in American educational politics. The results of the study showed that Korean educational politics has achieved quantitative growth, diversification of topics, and methodological advancement, but challenges remain, such as the concentration of certain topics, formalisation of research methods, and lack of academic diffusion and popularisation. The study also identified flexible and diverse research trends, such as international, multidisciplinary, ecological, political economy, and critical approaches, as well as future environmental changes, such as the decline in the school-age population due to low birthrate and aging, the entry of multicultural societies, increased global competition, and digital transformation of education. Based on this, the future development direction of Korean educational politics is expected to be: 1) expanding field-centred research in response to changes in the educational field; 2) increasing macro-level research topics in line with global trends; 3) attempting new approaches that reflect diversity and complexity; 4) diversifying and expanding methodologies; and 5) revitalising and qualitatively growing the academic community. Ultimately, it was recommended that an academic field be established in which talents from various fields participate to promote the formation and development of an academic community.
