Background: The sacroiliac joint is one of the potential causes of low back pain. Previous studies have attempted to improve the function of the sacroiliac joint through methods such as physical therapy. However, they were applied in a non-weight-bearing condition, and it was difficult to sustain in a weight-bearing condition. In addition, many studies have focused on the effect of the pelvic compression belt on muscle activity, but it is not addressed the immediate effects on the spatio-temporal gait parameters. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a pelvic compression belt on gluteal muscles strength and spatio-temporal gait parameters in subjects with sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Methods: This study involved 20 subjects with sacroiliac joint dysfunction. The participants were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 10) and a control group (n = 10). The experimental group was assigned a pelvic compression belt, while no intervention was applied to the control group. Muscle strength of the gluteus maximus and gluteus medius were measured using a tensiometer, and gait parameters were assessed using the StepLab program and Xsens DOT. The paired t-test was used to compare the data values before and after applying wearing the pelvic compression belt, and the independent t -test was used to compare the data values between the experimental group and the control group. Results: When comparing the results of this study before and after applying the pelvic compression belt, the strength of the gluteal muscles and the gait parameters increased, and there was a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05). When comparing the experimental group and the control group, there was no significant difference in cadence, but the strength of the gluteal muscles increased and the gait parameters improved (p < 0.05). Conclusions: In this study, when the pelvic compression belt was applied to subjects with sacroiliac joint dysfunction, the strength of the gluteal muscles increased, and the gait parameters improved.
