Development and Validation of an Emotional Intelligence Test for Young Children

본 연구의 목적은 3-5세 유아의 정서지능을 포괄적으로 측정할 수 있는 타당하고 신뢰로운 검사도구를 개발하고 타당화하는데 있다. 선행연구 분석과 전문가 검토를 통해 정서인식력, 정서조절력, 정서표현력, 정서소통력, 정서회복력의 5개 요인, 총 41문항으로 구성된 검사도구를 개발하였다. 타당도와 신뢰도 검증을 위해 G시 소재 유아교육기관에 재원 중인 3-5세 유아 360명을 대상으로 타당도와 신뢰도를 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 개발된 검사도구는 구인타당도, 공인타당도, 문항 내적합치도, 검사-재검사 신뢰도에서 양호한 수준을 나타냈다. 또한 연령에 따른 유의미한 차이를 보여 유아 정서지능의 발달적 특성을 반영하는 것으로 확인되었다. 특히, 정서회복력 요인이 높은 설명변량을 보여 유아기 정서발달에서 이 요인의 중요성이 부각되었다. 본 연구에서 개발된 검사도구는 유아의 정서지능을 정확하게 평가하고, 이를 바탕으로 교육적 지원방안을 마련하는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

This study aimed to develop and validate a comprehensive, reliable, and valid assessment tool for measuring emotional intelligence in children aged 3-5 years. Through analysis of previous research and expert review, an assessment tool consisting of 41 items across five factors (emotional recognition, emotional regulation, emotional expression, emotional communication, and emotional resilience) was developed. The validity and reliability of the tool were verified with 360 children aged 3-5 years from early childhood education institutions in G city. Results showed that the developed assessment tool demonstrated satisfactory levels of construct validity, concurrent validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability. The tool also revealed significant differences according to age, reflecting the developmental characteristics of emotional intelligence in young children. Notably, the emotional resilience factor showed high explanatory power, highlighting its importance in emotional development during early childhood. The assessment tool developed in this study is expected to contribute to accurately evaluating children's emotional intelligence and establishing educational support measures based on these evaluations.
