A college writing in the era of writing using artificial intelligence

본 연구의 목적은 생성형 인공지능을 이용하여 작성한 글의 특성을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 대학 글쓰기 교육에서의 적용 및 대응 방안을 모색하는 것이다. 생성형 인공지능을 이용하여 작성한 글의 특성은 AI 생성 글에 대한 질적 분석을 통해 파악하였다. 또한 대학 글쓰기 수업에서 이러한 특성들을 어떻게 적용하고 대응할 수 있을지 방향을 제안하였다. 첫째, AI 생성 글은 구조적 전형성을 지닌다. 둘째, AI 생성 글에는 일반적이고 보편적인 표현이 반복된다. 따라서 AI가 생성한 글은 내용이 지나치게 평범하고 구체적인 세부 사항이 부족하다. 셋째, AI는 그럴듯한 ‘거짓말’을 상당히 치밀하게 만들어 낼 수 있다. AI가 처음 생성하는 글은 보통 지나치게 일반적이거나 세부 사항이 부족하다. 하지만 AI는 계속해서 ‘구체적으로 작성하라’는 수정 지시를 받으면, 아주 세부적인 내용까지도 거짓으로 만들어 낼 수 있다. 넷째, AI 생성 글에는 사실에 부합하지 않는 잘못된 정보가 포함되기도 하고, 질문자의 의도에 부합하지 않는 ‘오류’가 발생할 수 있다. 교수자는 이러한 특성들을 제대로 파악함으로써 학생들을 올바르게 지도하는 기준으로 삼을 수 있다. 학생들은 AI 생성 글의 특성을 이해함으로써 무분별하게 표절하지 않고 비판적으로 수용할 수 있는 동기를 갖게 될 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of writings written using generative artificial intelligence, and based on this, to find application and response measures in university writing education. The characteristics of writings written using generative artificial intelligence were grasped through qualitative analysis of AI-generated texts. In addition, it suggested a direction on how to apply and respond to these characteristics in college writing classes. First, AI-generated texts have structural typicality. Second, general and universal expressions are repeated in AI-generated texts. Therefore, the content of AI-generated texts is too ordinary and lacks specific details. Third, AI can produce fairly meticulously plausible lies. The first AI-generated texts are usually overly general or lacking in detail, but if you are constantly instructed to ‘write in detail’, you can write a text with a considerable level of detail. Fourth, AI-generated texts may contain clearly untrue information, and errors that do not match the intention of the questioner may occur. Instructors can use these characteristics as a criterion for guiding students correctly by properly grasping them. Students will be motivated to accept critically without indiscriminately plagiarizing by understanding the characteristics of AI-generated texts.
