국어과 표현 교육의 맥락에서 고찰한 내러티브의 개념과 교육적 효용

Exploring the Concept of Narrative and Its Pedagogical Value in the Context of Expression Education

본 연구는 국어과 표현 교육의 맥락에서 내러티브를 보다 확장적이고 통섭적인 개념으로 재개념화하고 이것의 교육적 효용을 살피는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 우선 국어 교육 담론 가운데 표현 교육(화법 교육 및 작문 교육) 분야에서 그간 논의되어 온 내러티브에 관한 선행 연구들을 분석하였다. 이후 내러티브의 개념을 둘러싼 국내외 담론을 토대로 표현 교육의 맥락에서 내러티브를 재개념화하고 그것의 특성을 제시하였다. 요컨대 좁은 개념으로서의 서사(敍事) 개념을 넘어, 내러티브를 ‘의사소통 행위’의 차원에서 분석할 수 있는 역동적인 의미 구성의 가능태로 상정하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 표현 교육의 맥락에서 내러티브가 가지는 교육적 효용과 가치에 대해 논의하였다. 이 연구는 그동안 기능과 전략, 수행의 결과와 그 효과에 많은 관심을 두었던 기존의 표현 교육 현상을 반성적으로 성찰하고, 확장된 개념의 내러티브를 표현 교육의 맥락으로 포섭하여 표현 교육의 외연을 넓히고자 했다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.

This study aims to reconceptualize narrative within the context of expression education as broader and more integrative concept. To achieve this, Chapter 2 analyzes prior research on narrative within the fields of listening and speech education and writing education. Building on this, Chapter 3 presents a reconceptualized definition and characteristics of narrative in the context of expression education, drawing on both domestic and international research. Specifically, it extends the concept of narrative beyond a narrow understanding of “story” to a more dynamic construct that can be analyzed as a form of “communicative action”. Finally, Chapter 4 discusses the educational utility and value of this reconceptualized narrative within expression education. This study reflects critically on existing phenomena in expression education, which have traditionally focused on function, strategies, performance, outcomes, and effects, and is significant in that it broadens the scope of expression education by incorporating an expanded concept of narrative.
