Effects of a Nursing Students’ Information Ethics Awareness and Critical Thinking Disposition on Perception on Patient Privacy information Protection

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of nursing students’ information ethics awareness, critical thinking disposition and perception on patient privacy information protection. The data collection was conducted from September 20 to October 31, 2024, for 163 nursing students at two universities in K City and D City. Data analysis was performed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, and multiple regression using the SPSS/WIN 27.0 program. As a result of the study, there were no variables that showed a significant difference in perception on patient privacy information protection according to general characteristics. Nursing students perception of privacy was significantly positively correlated with information ethics awareness and critical thinking disposition. The factors influencing nursing students’ perception on patient privacy information protection were information ethics awareness and critical thinking dispositon, with 52.8% showing explanatory power. In order to raise the awareness of patient privacy among nursing students’, it is necessary to strengthen information education to establish values by cultivating a correct awareness of information ethics, and it is necessary to develop and apply educational programs for this purpose.
