Recently, various learner response systems (LRS) have been developed, and their application in classes across different majors is increasing. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of applying a LRS such as Socrative app to the clinical microbiology curriculum. In 2023, the Socrative app was used in the clinical microbiology course for 41 students at C University for 12 weeks. The effectiveness was evaluated through a survey before and after application of this LRS. A survey was conducted on learning engagement (LE), learning satisfaction (LS), and academic achievement (AA) and these were compared and evaluated. LE, LS, and AA showed statistically significant improvement after applying Socrative (p<0.001). A significant correlation was observed between LE, LS, and AA, with the greatest correlation between LE and AA (0.668–0.790, p<0.001). The variable affecting LS was academic achievement (β=0.679, p=0.001). In conclusion, the results of this study showed that classes using the Socrative app are an effective teaching and learning method for clinical microbiology education. In future, it is necessary to verify the effectiveness by applying it to teaching and learning methods in various clinical pathology subjects.
