발달장애인의 건강상태가 보호자의 돌봄 부담에 미치는 영향: 도전적 행동의 조절효과를 중심으로

The Effect of the Health Status of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities on Caregivers Burden: Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Challenging Behaviors

본 연구는 발달장애인의 건강상태와 보호자의 돌봄 부담과의 관계에서 도전적 행동의 조절효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 한국장애인고용공단 고용개발원에서 구축한 발달장애인 일과 삶 실태조사 3차(2022년) 자료를 활용하였으며, 발달장애인 가구 2,873명을 분석 대상으로 선정하였다. 분석 방법으로는 SPSS 23.0과 PROCESS macro를 활용하여 조절효과를 검증하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 발달장애인의 건강상태는 보호자의 돌봄 부담에 부적인 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 발달장애인의 건강상태가 나쁠수록 보호자의 돌봄 부담은 높아진다. 둘째, 발달장애인의 건강상태와 보호자의 돌봄 부담과의 관계에서 도전적 행동의 조절효과를 보였다. 즉, 발달장애인 건강상태가 나쁠수록 보호자의 돌봄 부담이 가중되며 이러한 관계에서 도전적 행동의 빈도에 따라 보호자의 돌봄 부담 수준이 상대적으로 더 높아진다는 것을 의미한다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 발달장애인의 건강 문제와 도전적 행동 지원에 대한 실천 및 정책적 제언을 제시하였다.

This study examined the moderating effect of challenging behaviors on the relationship between the health status of individuals with developmental disabilities and caregivers' burden. The analysis utilized data from the third wave (2022) of the Survey on Work and Life of Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, conducted by the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled. The study sample consisted of 2,873 households of individuals with developmental disabilities. The analysis was conducted using SPSS 23.0 and PROCESS macro to test the moderating effect. The key findings are as follows: First, the health status of individuals with developmental disabilities negatively impacted caregivers' burden. In other words, poorer health status among individuals with developmental disabilities was associated with a higher burden on caregivers. Second, challenging behaviors were found to moderate the relationship between the health status of individuals with developmental disabilities and caregivers' burden. Specifically, as the health status of individuals with developmental disabilities worsened, caregivers' burden increased, and this relationship was exacerbated by the frequency of challenging behaviors. Based on these findings, the study proposed practical and policy recommendations to address health issues and support for challenging behaviors in individuals with developmental disabilities.
