성인지적 관점에서 분석한 보완대체의사소통(AAC) -그림상징체계를 중심으로-

Augmentative and Alternative Communication(AAC) Analyzed from a Gender-Responsive Perspective -Focusing on Picture Symbol Systems-

배경 및 목적: 이 연구는 보완대체의사소통(AAC) 그림상징을 분석하여 상징체계에서 나타나는 사회･문화적 표상과 성별 편향 요인을 고찰하고 성인지 감수성의 적용과 확장 필요성을 제시하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 성인지적 관점의 선행연구는 사회･문화적 관념에 기인한 성별 편향 현상을 해소하기 위하여 다양한 분야에서 성인지적 관점의 개입을 강조하였다. 이 연구는 이러한 문제의식에 동의하여 수행되었다. 연구 방법: 분석 매트릭스로 여성가족부의 성별 영향평가 지침을 재구성하여 활용하였다. 구체적인 분석 대상은 한국형 AAC 상징 검색 시스템(KAAC Symbols Search)에 수록된 그림상징이다. 연구 결과: 1 만여 개의 상징 중 분석 대상에 해당하는 3,060 개 항목을 추출하여 그림상징을 분석한 결과 2,019 개의 항목이 성별 편향 범주에 해당하는 것으로 확인되었다. 분석을 통해 성인지적 관점의 필요성을 살필 수 있었다. 결론: 분석 결과가 시사하는 성인지적 관점의 적용 및 확장 필요성과 그 방향성에 대하여 제안하였다.

Background and Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze pictorial symbols of AAC to examine the socio-cultural representations and gender bias factors that appear in the symbol system and to suggest the necessity of applying and expanding gender sensitivity. Previous studies on the gender-sensitive perspective have emphasized the intervention of the gender-sensitive perspective in various fields in order to eliminate the gender bias phenomenon caused by socio-cultural concepts. This study was conducted in agreement with this critical awareness. Research Method: The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family’s gender impact assessment guidelines were reconstructed and utilized as an analysis matrix. The specific analysis target is the pictorial symbols included in the Korean AAC Symbol Search System (KAAC Symbols Search). Research Results: As a result of analyzing the pictorial symbols by extracting 3,060 items that were subject to analysis out of 10,000 symbols, it was confirmed that 2,019 items fell into the gender bias category. Through analysis, we were able to examine the need for intervention from an adult cognitive perspective. Conclusion: The need for application and expansion of the gender-sensitive perspective suggested by the analysis results and its direction were suggested.
