한 여성의 자녀 진로교육 이야기

A story of a woman's career education for her children

여성에게 있어서 엄마라는 이름으로서의 삶은 자녀 양육 및 진로교육에 대한 책임이 따르는 중요한 실존적 의미를 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 우리 사회에서 엄마라는 역할을 감당하고 있는 여성이 자녀의 진로교육 과정을 어떻게 경험하고 있는지, 자녀의 진로교육은 여성에게 어떤 의미를 가지는지에 대해 알아보고자 총 7번의 심층 면담을 통하여 한 여성의 자녀 진로교육 경험에 대한 자료를 수집한 후 여성주의 시각에서 내러티브 탐구방법으로 질적 분석을 하였다. 그 결과 본 연구에 참여한 여성은 자녀를 명문대에 보내기 위한 큰 관문이라고 할 수 있는 자녀의 특목고 진학을 위하여 몰입하고 있었고, 그 과정에서 한 여성으로서 그리고 한 인간으로서의 삶을 희생하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 현상은 가부장적 자본주의 사회가 만들어낸 여성 신화에 의해 강요되고 있는 것으로, 자녀 진로교육 과정에서 여성은 객체로 즉 남성의 목표를 성취하기 위한 도구로 전락하고 있었다. 이러한 힘의 불균형과 모순은 자녀를 대상화시키는 결과를 초래하였다.본 연구자는 이러한 문제들을 해결하는 한 가지 방법으로 여성 자신이 가부장적 자본주의 사회에서 작동하고 있는 힘과 모순들을 직시하고 반성적 사고를 통하여 강요된 사회．문화적 담론을 거부하고 자신의 이야기를 스스로 재구성함으로써 여성 자신의 존재를 드러내야 함을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 자녀 진로교육에 있어서의 문제들을 밝히고, 여성 자신 내부에서 해결 가능성을 찾고자 시도하였다는데 의의를 가진다. For women, the life as a mother which has existential meaning, entails the responsibility of child upbringing and academic and career counselling. The purpose of this study is to learn how a woman experiences career education for her children and how significant it is to educate her children about career choices. This study is conducted through seven in-depth interviews with a mother and analyzed through qualitative method.In conclusion, the participant in this study has dedicated her life to getting her child to be admitted to a special high school. Therefore, she sacrificed her life as a woman and a human being. This kind of sacrifice is forced by the patriarchal capitalistic system. This system makes a woman an object for the sake of a man and results in making her children objects as well.This researcher proposes that women need to face these problems and expose their existence through self-examination through remaking self-story. This study attempts to raise problems and seeks some possibilities for women to solve the problems by themselves.
