문화적 실천으로서의 학습탐구: 마리는 과연 요리를 만들었는가?

Inquiry into learning as cultural practice: Did Mari cook on earth?

이 글에서 나는 심리학에서 뿐만 아니라 상식적인 수준에서도 ‘개체 내부의 지식의 변화 혹은 머릿속의 새로운 지식의 저장’이라고 정의하는 ‘학습’을 ‘문화적 실천’으로서 새롭게 정의하는 것을 연구목적으로 하고자 한다. ‘문화적 실천’으로서 학습을 새롭게 정의하는 것은 ‘학습’이라는 활동을 개인의 머릿속 즉 닫혀 있는 공간 내부에서의 변화라는 관점을 넘어서서 개인과 외부세계와의 부단한 상호작용의 산물로서 그것을 다루는 것을 의미한다. 이 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해서 첫째, 일본 후쿠이 특수학교에 재학 중인 중복장애아인 ‘마리’의 요리 만들기 활동을 영상 기록한 데이터를 분석하였다. 이 데이터를 분석하기 위해서 나는 비고츠키(Vygotsky)의 관점과 후기 비고츠키 학파 연구자인 워치(Wertsch)의 관점, 그리고 상황학습론의 창시자인 레이브와 웽거(Lave & Wenger)의 관점을 채용하였다. 둘째, 개체내부의 변화로서 학습을 정의하였을 때와 문화적 실천으로서 학습을 정의하였을 때 마리의 요리 만들기 활동은 우리 눈에 어떻게 다르게 비추어지는지 비교 검토하였다. 셋째, 우리는 무엇을 암묵적인 전제로 하여 학습을 개체내부의 변화라고 정의하는지 탐색하였다. 마지막으로 내가 이 글에서 채용한 이론적 관점과 그 관점에 터한 데이터의 분석으로부터 얻은 지견에 기초해서 학교학습을 특수한 문화적 실천으로서 재조명하였다. In this essay, my research aims to define learning anew, which has been defined as changes within an individual or accumulation of new knowledge within the head both in psychology and in common sense, as cultural practice. The new definition of learning as cultural practice goes beyond the perspective in which learning is viewed as changes inside an individual, i.e., in a closed space, and deals with it as the product of constant interaction between an individual and the outer world including socio-cultural history. To achieve my research goals, I analyzed the data of a video in which Marie, a girl with multiple disabilities at a special-education school of Hukui in Japan, shows how to cook. To analyze the data, I employed Vygotsky's perspective, Wersch's perspective - Wertsch is a Neo-Vygotskian-and Lave and Wenger's perspective, they are the originator of Situated Learning. Second, when we define learning both as changes inside an individual and as cultural practice, I examined how we can view Mari's cooking activity differently with those definitions. Third, I inquired onto what basis we defined learning as changes inside an individual. Finally, on the basis of some theoretical perspectives that I employed and some ideas acquired from the analysis of the data, I shed new light on the definition of school-learning as a specific cultural practice.
