어느 장애인 청강생을 차별,배제하는 상식적 카테고리화 과정 해독

A critical analysis of the process of common-sensical categorization of discriminating and excluding a disabled student who wants to sit in for a class

이 글에서 나는 T대학교의 교수회의에서 나타난 어느 장애인 청강생을 차별·배제하는 '상식적 카테고리화' 과정을 해독함과 동시에, 그 상식적 카테고리화에 저항하는 그 청강생의 '자기집행카테고리'를 분석하는 것을 연구목적으로 하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해서 삭스(Sacks)의 '성원카테고리화장치', '상식적 카테고리화' 그리고 '자기집행카테고리' 라는 개념을 분석도구로 채용하였다. 그리고 연구목적을 설정하는 과정에서 나를 포함한 우리들 모두 차별 및 배제의 바깥에 있는 존재가 아니라 일상에서 차별 및 배제하는 존재로 있을 가능성으로부터 결코 자유로울 수 없고, 역으로 차별 및 배제당할 가능성으로부터 마찬가지로 결코 자유로울 수 없다는 가설을 설정하였다. 이러한 작업을 통해서 첫째, 그 청강희망생을 차별·배제하는 상식적인 카테고리화의 성립 및 달성을 '잘라내는 배제'와 '끌어안는 배제'로 분류하였다. 둘째, 이러한 개념화 작업에 기초해서 우리들이 무자각적으로 사용하는 시민사회의 논리라는 담론 안에 장애인을 배제하는 원장치가 숨어있다는 사실을 밝혔다. 셋째, 차별 연구에 새로운 발상을 가져오기 위해서는 '왜'라는 담론구성에서 '어떻게'로의 담론구성으로의 전환이 필요하다는 것을 제언하였다. 끝으로 차별 및 배제라는 현상을 다루는 데 있어 연구자의 자기응시의 필요성을 제언하였다. The goal of this study is to critically analyse the process of common-sensical categorization of discriminating and excluding a disabled student who wants to sit in for a class, and at the same time to study the auditor`s self-enforced categories. To achieve the goals, a hypothesis is formulated: Rather than existing independently of discrimination and exclusion, we would never be free from them in daily routines, and we may fall victim to them. In analyzing the data, first, two types of exclusion, complete exclusion and inclusive exclusion, were introduced to explain the common-sensical categorization of discriminating and excluding the student who is just sitting in for a class. Second, on the basis of the conceptualization, I discovered that there is a raw device that excludes a disabled man within a discourse of the logic of civil society. Third, I suggested that we should change from "why-discourse(why discrimination takes place)" to "how-discourse(how discrimination takes place)" to produce a new idea in studying discrimination. Finally, I suggested that we should consider self-contemplation as a researcher in dealing with phenomena of discrimination.
