시스템 사고 게임을 적용한 기후변화 교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 기후변화에 대한 인식과 태도 및 자기효능감에 미치는 영향

The Effects of a Climate Change Education Program Applying a Systems Thinking Game on Elementary School Students’ Awareness, Attitudes, and Self-Efficacy toward Climate Change

본 연구에서는 시스템 사고 게임을 적용한 기후변화 교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 기후변화에 대한 인식과 태도, 자기효능감에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 초등학교 5학년 학생 74명을 대상으로 기후변화에 대한 인식과 태도, 자기효능감에 관한 사전과 사후 검사를 실시하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시스템 사고 게임을 적용한 기후변화 교육 프로그램은 초등학생들의 기후변화에 대한 인식과 태도를 신장시켰다. 둘째, 시스템 사고 게임을 적용한 기후변화 교육 프로그램은 초등학생의 자기효능감에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 시스템 사고게임을 적용한 기후변화 교육 프로그램에 대해 초등학생들은 관심을 가지고, 높은 흥미를 보였으며, 기존의 전통적인 교육방식에 높은 만족도를 보였다. 학생들은 시스템 사고 게임을 적용한 기후변화 교육 프로그램을 통해 기후변화에 대한 융합적이고 총체적인 사고를 발전시켰고, 기후변화와 관련된 현상을 실생활과 연계하여 이해하고 적극적인 자세로 수업에 참여하였다. 이와 같이 시스템 사고게임을 적용한 기후변화 교육 프로그램은 초등학생들의 기후변화에 대한 인식과 태도, 자기효능감에 긍정적인 영향을 끼친 것으로 나타났다.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of a climate change education program applying a systems thinking game on elementary school students’ awareness, attitudes, and self-efficacy toward climate change. Pre- and post-tests were conducted on 74 fifth-grade elementary school students regarding their awareness, attitudes, and self-efficacy toward climate change. The results were as follows: First, the climate change education program applying a systems thinking game increased elementary school students’ awareness and attitudes toward climate change. Second, the program had a positive effect on elementary school students’ self-efficacy. Third, elementary school students were interested and showed high interest in the program and were highly satisfied with existing traditional teaching methods. Through the program, the students developed an integrated and holistic thinking about climate change, understood climate-changerelated phenomena in relation to real life, and actively participated in class. In conclusion, the climate change education program applying a systems thinking game had a positive effect on elementary school students’ awareness, attitudes, and self-efficacy toward climate change.
