기후재난 시대의 생태시민교육 -청주시 S 초등학교를 중심으로-

Ecological Citizenship Education in the Age of Climate Disaster -Focusing on S Elementary School in Cheongju-

새로운 지리-사회적 문제들이 넘쳐나는 21세기에 가장 긴급한 문제는 기후재난이다. 브뤼노 라투르는 ‘근대화=글로벌화’를 뛰어넘어 땅, 장소, 토지, 공동체, 공간, 사회문화적 환경, 삶의 방식, 교역, 기술에 대한 사람들의 소속감을 어떻게 보호하고 유지할 것인가를 묻는다. 이는 이론적으로는 ANT로 표현되는 바, 인간의 공간과 사회유물론적 장소-세계 간의 탐험과 고찰을 강조한다. 우리는 라투르의 논의를 발판 삼아 생태시민교육의 사례로서 청주 지역 S 초등학교 학생들의 생태도감 만들기 활동을 이해할 수 있다. 학생들은 지역개발과 환경보전이라는 대립되는 의견을 학습하고, 청주 구룡산에 직접 탐방을 나서 미국자리공을 비롯한 20여 종의 동식물을 관찰한다. 민주시민의 육성을 지향하는 이 활동은 기후재난에 대한 인식을 높이고 민주시민으로서의 실천력을 길러준다.

The purpose of this study was to review the significance of ecological citizenship education based on Latour's discussion of climate disasters. In the 21st century, as new geographic-social problems overflow, the most urgent problem is climate disasters. Bruno Latour asks how to protect and maintain people's sense of belonging to the land, places, land, communities, spaces, sociocultural environments, ways of life, trade, and technology beyond 'modernization = globalization'. This is theoretically expressed in ANT, which emphasizes the exploration and consideration of between human spaces and social relics. Using Latour's discussion as an example of ecological citizenship education, we can understand the activities of students at S Elementary School in Cheongju in creating a sense of ecology. Students learn conflicting opinions ons regional development and environmental conservation, and personally visit Guryongsan Mountain in Cheongju to observe more than 20 species of plants and animals, including the American Zodiac. This activity is aimed at fostering democratic citizens, raising awareness of climate disasters, and developing practical skills for democratic citizens.
