아들러의 개인심리학 관점에서 본 정조의 생활양식 분석

An Analysis of Jeongjo's Lifestyle from the Perspective of Adler’s Individual Psychology

본 연구는 아들러의 개인심리학 관점에서 조선의 22대왕인 정조의 삶에 나타난 생활양식을 분석하는 것이었다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 정조에 관한 문헌인 조선왕조실록, 한중록, 홍재전서 등과 같은 공식기록과 정조의 삶을 해석한 2차 저작물을 통하여 정조의 삶을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 정조는 ‘사랑 없는 양육’이라는 가족 분위기에도 불구하고 사도세자에 대한 효심을 잃지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 사도세자의 죽음을 통하여 ‘사도세자 추숭’이라는 삶의 목표를 가지게 되었으며, 재위 기간 내내 자신의 열등감인 아버지에 대한 죄책감을 극복하고자 노력한 것으로 나타났다. 정조의 생활양식은 사회적 관심과 활동성이 높은 ‘사회적으로 유용한 유형’으로, 그는 ‘애민정신’과 ‘공심’을 바탕으로 아들러학파에서 제시한 5가지 인생과제(우정, 사랑, 직업, 자기 지향, 영성)에 적절하게 다양한 정책을 실행한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 본 연구의 결과는 교사가 아이들에게 고통스러운 어린 시절이 삶을 지배하지 않으며, 교육 현장에서 아이들의 열등감을 이해하고, 사회적 관심을 잘 발휘하여 용기를 가질 수 있도록 격려하는 역할을 함으로써 희망을 줄 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

This study analyzes the lifestyle of King Jeongjo, the 22nd monarch of Joseon, from the perspective of Adlerian Individual Psychology. To achieve this, this study examines King Jeongjo’s life through official records such as the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, Hanjungrok, and HongJaeJeonSeo, which are literature on King Jeongjo, and secondary written works that interpret his life. The findings showed that King Jeongjo did not lose his filial love for Crown Prince Sado despite the family atmosphere of ‘loveless nurturing’. In addition, through the death of Crown Prince Sado, he came to have a life goal of ‘honoring Crown Prince Sado’, and he tried to overcome the inferiority complex of guilt towards his father throughout his reign. In this study, King Jeongjo's lifestyle is a ‘socially useful type’ with high social interest and activity, and based on the spirit of love for the people and ‘public mind’ he implemented various policies aligned with Adlerian Individual Psychology's five life tasks(friendship, love, work, self-direction, and spirituality). These findings suggest that teachers can inspire hope in children by showing that a painful childhood does not have to define one's life. Thus highlighting the importance of educators understanding students' feelings of inferiority and encouraging them to develop social interest and courage in their educational field.
