기독교 교육철학에 기초한 교사역할에 대한 고찰 - 엘렌 화잇과 조지 나잇을 중심으로 -

A Study on the Role of Teachers Based on Christian Educational Philosophy - Focusing on Ellen White and George Knight -

본 연구는 재림교회의 형이상학적, 인식론적, 가치론적 교육철학을 바탕으로교사의 역할을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 재림교회 교육은 하나님과 성경을중심으로 한 세계관과 인간관을 형이상학적 교육철학의 기초로 삼고 있다. 따라서교사는 기독교 세계관으로 하나님의 원칙을 연구하고 적용함으로 학생들이 하나님의 형상을 회복하도록 돕는 역할을 해야 한다. 재림교회의 인식론적 철학에서는성경이 모든 교육의 권위있는 원천이며, 가장 의미있는 학습은 교제를 통해 가능하다고 본다. 따라서 교사는 성경으로 모든 학문과 지식이 검증해야 하며, 학생들과사랑으로 교제하며, 학생들의 의지력을 키우는 교수학습방법을 사용해야 한다. 가치론적으로 재림교회 교육이 가장 중요하게 생각하는 것은 사랑과 경건이다. 교사는 학생들이 이타적이고 헌신적인 사랑과 경건을 배울 수 있도록, 일상생활속에서 성경적 가치관을 실천하는 모본이 되어야 한다. 즉, 재림교회 교육의 중심에 있는 교사는 단순한 지식 전달자가 아니라 학생들이 하나님의 진리를 발견하고전인적인 성장을 이루므로 현세와 내세 모두에서 하나님과 다른 사람들에 대한봉사의 기쁨을 누릴 수 있도록 돕는 목회자로서의 역할을 담당해야 한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of teachers through the metaphysical, epistemological, and axiological educational philosophies of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Seventh-day Adventist education is grounded in a worldview and understanding of humanity centered on God and the Bible as its metaphysical foundation. Accordingly, teachers are tasked with helping students restore the image of God by studying and applying God's principles from a Christian worldview. In the epistemological framework of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Bible is regarded as the authoritative source of all education, and meaningful learning is considered achievable through fellowship. Therefore, teachers are responsible for evaluating all academic disciplines through a biblical lens, fostering loving relationships with students, and employing instructional methods that strengthen students' willpower. Axiologically, the Adventist educational philosophy emphasizes love and godliness as core values. Teachers are expected to embody biblical values in their daily lives, serving as role models of selfless love and devotion to inspire these virtues in students. Ultimately, the role of the teacher in Seventh-day Adventist education is not merely that of a knowledge transmitter; rather, it is as a pastor guiding students in discovering God's truth, achieving holistic growth, and experiencing the joy of service to God and others both in this life and beyond.
