Background: This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the ethical values and healthcare information protection of university students majoring in health information management, to consider the application of job ethics in the future health information management major curriculum, and to provide basic data for activating ethics questions in the national examination for health information managers. Methods: This study surveyed a total of 219 university students majoring in health information management at N University located in Province C on their ethical values and health information protection. Results: The correlation between ethical values, work performance, and health information protection was the highest (r=.538, p<0.01). The factors affecting ethical values and health information protection according to whether or not they took a job ethics course were respect for life (β=.249, p<0.001) and health information protection (β=-.285, p<0.001). Conclusion: It is essential to provide ethics education to college students majoring in health information management to establish ethical values related to their future work.
